Yololiv Instream - Setup and Testing for Streaming to Instagram and TikTok

The Instream from Yololiv is unique in that it is a dedicated device for Streaming to Instagram and TikTok in vertical format. I was intrigued by this device when it was announced because it does seem to solve a problem that I know many people were having, namely how to use high quality cameras to stream to IG & TikTok, when the platforms will only allow you to stream from the mobile app.
Although IG is now slowly rolling out the ability to stream using and RTMP key from external streaming software, only a small proportion of users have this feature. That's where Instream comes in. The genius of Instream is that it runs on Android. As such, despite having multiple camera and audio inputs and the ability to add overlays and graphics, the actual streaming is still performed through a native IG /Tiktok app. Therefor, it is not breaking any terms of service as some other third part IG streaming platforms do!
I've had this device in my hands for less that 12 hours and have been sleeping for most of that time! So join me as we take an initial look and go through some of the setup and testing process and figure it out together!

I do not have static when I connect my Rodecaster to the Instream, however I was on a coaching call with a client a couple of days ago and he too had static! We couldn't figure out what was causing it at all, and I'm still trying to figure it out/ replicate it on my side! I'll get back to you when I do :-)

Hey there, thanks for your informative video. I was wondering if you've had any issues with the Instream displaying the video sources in a squashed/stretched aspect ratio when previewing from within an app on the device, like TikTok/Zoom? In my Instream, the previews of the sources (Sony ZV-1, desktop PC) in the video source list look fine. But once any app pulls them in, they get squashed into what looks like a 4:3 aspect ratio. Any advice would be great.

Thanks for this review. I am wondering can my Ecamm vertical production be sent into this with some virtual cam rig thing? Then I can make use of all the goodness of Ecamm into this unit.

Yes, you can use Ecamm's video monitor option to send out the Ecamm signal to an external monitor.... however that could be either an HDMI cable directly into the Instream or alternatively use an HDMI splitter so that you still see the output on an actual monitor but that is also then sent into the Instream. Excellent video on this product …Can we use webcams with usb connectivity directly with this for zoom meetings? e.g insta link webcam and Logitech 4k webcam. Can this be used for you tube?

Yes you can use a USB Webcam.... There are 2 HDMI sockets and one USB3 socket, for connecting 3 cameras in total. This is what I had done in this demo using a Sony ZV-E10, Sony ZV1 and an AverMedia 4K Webcam. Audio will also pass through over all of those camera inputs too, if you are using on camera audio.

If I use this device to do IG live (& also invite guest to my live). I would see a split screen (upper is mine, bottom is my quest) on my IG, When I click the "record" button of "Instream" could I still record the split screen & the live comment?

Yes, I agree.... you have to have a real need/desire for multi-camera streaming for this one, so it is certainly not a device for everyone! :-)
