Elijah is a good dude. I bought a RITTE ACE a few years back, he was the guy who answered the phone, responded to emails and made knowledgable suggestions on a build. When the bike arrived, it was exactly as I was expecting, and a TON of fun. The Satyr looks like another nice ride from a really unique brand. Good to see them get some exposure.

Agreed. Bought a Ritte Phantom in 2021, excellent customer service, and a great bike. Curious how the Satyr rides.

Yes, I agree. I had the same experience with Elijah last year. I also bought a RITTE ACE and love it!

Your best video yet Ben and I’ve watched them all. I’m big into adventure riding especially where there’s a lot of off road stuff. I can see that’s a bit out of your comfort zone because of your deep seeded roadie roots. Somewhere in the video the comment was made that gravel riding is in between mtbing and road riding and I agree with that. So here’s my point Ben; your equipment should reflect that halfway point. You don’t need a mtb, you need a properly equipped adventure bike. That means much lower gearing (1:1 is not low), use much fatter tires and don’t hesitate to use some kind of suspension like devices. You will see that the bikes will be much more capable and fun. I’m using 46/31 x 11-40. That allows me to climb 20+% hills. I’ve got 50 to 53mm tires with inserts to deal with rocks, sand, gullies etc. Tires need to be as big as the frame can handle, not as small as you dare. The tires are your suspension, your traction and your durability which all adds up to confidence and fun. Bikes should be dialled into the gnarliest parts of the route not the easiest. Any bike can do pavement or Gucci gravel. I want to be able ride the gnarly bits, not walk them. Keep up the great work Ben. Btw, I’ll definitely being contacting your guide friend. That ride in the Dolomites is very high on my bucket list.

Hey Steve, it sounds like you'd be perfect for an Alter trip. I look forward to working with you (and hopefully some adventurous friends of yours) to create a mind-blowing experience for you in the Dolomites (or any of the other Alter destinations).

Fantastic vlog, really enjoyed this one 👍 I've always said, "gearing, gearing, gearing ". This captures what a 'gravel' (aka light adventure bike) is for myself. It's not about the destination, it's about the journey. This is the type of content I'm looking for, keep up the excellent work Ben, rubber side down 🍻

And what a lovely day it was. Excellent capture of the scenery, the bikes, the camaraderie, the adventure. Thank goodness you had that 30x36, otherwise you would have ended up as bear food somewhere out there in the hills... Can't wait to take you on another transformative journey, perhaps with slightly less discomfort.

As I only get the time to ride once a month at best I am a big fan of the BSR I get kitted up fill my pockets with food tell my wife I love her. Get on the road and see where I can get to in a day. Sometimes I do a round trip sometimes I get her to come pick me up. All depends on the mood and what direction I picked to start in. Rarely ever start out with a plan. My current bike has a sub compact chain ring and I will never go back. That 30 front ring is a life saver. 80% of the time I can stay on the 46 but when the going gets tough I know I can switch to goat mode and get up just about anything. I’ve only got a 34 in the back. Lucky for me I don’t have much locally that I need a 36 but if I did I wouldn’t hesitate to get one.

Yup, my 39x28 was not the best choice as my easiest gear. But that bad choice pales in comparison with my choice to show up that morning (just kidding... that ride was epic in a very good way!)

I don't often comment on youtube, but I discovered you a few videos ago and I really like your delivery, the format (you actually go out for decent rides) and your knowledge. This range of surfaces is what I think a gravel bike is for. Was this also an advert for Ritte and Alter? Yes. Did it feel like one? No. Nice work Ben.

Thank you. For the record, there was no money involved here. I have had brands ask me if they could buy reviews. I guess that's a thing on KZbin, but not what I want to do. I want to be able to say whatever I want. I am absolutely rooting for Chris and am happy to help him with Alter. Thanks for subscribing, and please keep the feedback coming.

Based on a lack of reviews, nobody loves GRX 400. However its modern, affordable and runs 30 36 to 46 11. That's 500%!
