A really simple way of adding depth to your renders by blurring the background. Simple yet effective. I'll be setting up an automated way of making sure your focus is always in the right place.

Quicker way to have the distance of the subject : Display > Heads up Display > objet details

Yep, you can find the value really quickly that way. Do you know if there is a way to that value from the heads up display and wire it into the camera focal distance via a script? It would be cool if you could click on an object in the viewport and automatically focus on it.

I had tried this sometime ago and realized that the downside of this is that when u are dealing with huge asset and geometry it will result is very time consuming rendertimes.. its best to render zdepth and adjust it in compositing. Than rendering it along with the beauty pass. But the tutorial is really nicely presented.

I fully agree. And mentioned the same process at the start of the video. However the question that came in was to do the depth of field directly in render. So ask and you shall receive :D

Yeah, it's one of the things that is easier to do in post. the method just depends in which program you wan to do your compositing.
