York University - Why are you open?

On Monday December 23, 2024, two days before Christmas, York University remained open despite all classes and exams having ended and other GTA universities offering longer winter break periods. This required over 2000 staff at the university to come in to work or use up their banked vacation even though there were almost no students on campus. The staff at York University Staff Association asks: York University, why are you open when all other GTA universities providing longer winter breaks?
