Yorkshire Bandit AC MATCH FISHING on DDAA Southfield Reservoir

So it's the third round of the Yorkshire Bandit AC 2022 season and we're headed for DDAA Southfield Reservoir.
Last time the club visited this venue, it was absolutely hopeless feeder fishing for bream and most of us ended up pole fishing for roach so the approach would be 3 pronged this time, 2 feeder lines, a pole line and as a backup a short method rod to go over the top of the pole line if the wind proved too difficult.
Long distance feeder fishing for bream is all the rage these days but during the warmer months and with the wind in our faces there's not really any need to go out super long at Southfield therefore my long line was set to 45m, middle line at 24m and the pole/method at 13m.
Which method would produce the fish, if any? Would I move up the league leaderboard after my poor performance at Lindholme and absolute shocker which resulted in a broken pole at Aston Park and my early exit from the match? That's bream fishing Clive pretty much the same if you're on Southfield, the canal or the river, draw on em and red letter day, don't and you're in for a toughie. What's weird with Southfield is how you get a few then they drift off and then maybe drift back in but there's no consistency to it and one can be a skimmer, the next a proper bream. I have no idea where those roach have gone that we caught last time we went with the club, the pole line was dead for everybody. 🤷‍♂️

always hard fishing there John, I have watched a few video's from Southfield Reservoir and I think you all did well, the biggest net's always came from the woods in the low numbers, I see Jamie Harrison catch 140lb and win a match from i think peg three or four, thank you john, liked the filming,

Thanks James, it was a little disappointing considering the weights that had been out on the wednesday before our saturday match but none of them came from the pegs we were on, ironically those pegs have fished well today in the festival but the fish tend to be in pockets and drift regardless of bait in the swim.

Can drop 3 worst results so the league might be a bit skewed until the 8th match and then everyone who's fished them all will start dropping results. Just gotta keep plugging away and hope my draws get better🤞

Hi Jan, it gets heavily fished and is a moody place at the best of times. Last year the bream couldn't get into the reservoir from the canal due to a breach and the water level being low, that's now resolved and the weights are starting to pick back up now.

Yes they're rock solid and an absolute steal, I paid £30 when I got mine think they've gone up to £39 now but still way cheaper than a feederland.

Not sure if anyone put a worm and caster cocktail on Martin, most couldn't catch on worm, I know JK got a couple on it but maggot seemed best on the day, probably because most only had skimmers. As for YDAA, they never gave a reason and I'm not jumping through their hoops to film, it's their loss.

How do you measure your lines John? Is it estimated or a particular method of measuring the distance?

Distance sticks James, look them up. If you ever crack off easy to get clipped back up where you need to be.

hiya John southfield is a cruel mistress sometimes. couple of questions if you don't mind were you using braid on any of your lines? and do you use a shock leader? if so what knot do you use to connect braid to mono?

Hi Martin, I had 0.10 braid on both the 45m and 24m rods. On the 45m I had a long shock leader with 3 turns onto the reel, on the short rod it was just there as a buffer to absorb any lunges and was just 4ft long. Both had 8lb guru shield leader and I joined them with an Albright knot. Thanks for watching bud👍
