why would it get lost, its even getting better. those shit cars are now rusty, not in 1977 when they were released. what they restored in the 70s what was built in the 40s was completely different and much easier. So this is a craft that is envolving not disappearing.

Loving the old school skills on display. Almost hypnotic with the gentle music playing in the background. Dare I say this craftsmanship will be a dying art in the future? I would encourage my three year old to be an engineer or to do something like this because by the time he’s older he will command good money for his services. That’s if AI hasn’t taken over by then.😂

Sadly, it's a throw away society now and skills like this is a dying art, most places just replace parts with new or scrap if they can't nowadays. The only positive is those with the skills are more in demand as less learn.

@@darianistead2239 I agree totally. I own two trucks and do as much work on them as possible to keep costs down. I’ve always been mechanically minded since doing a YTS in the early 90s. But like you say. People just buy new stuff instead of fixing things.

@@broadsworddannyboy655 Same here. My old man had an engineering shop building race cars and engines, his mate who raced cars bartered work where they kept eachothers stuff pristine. I did my apprenticeship doing panel/paint with the old mans mate and also worked for the olds as a mechanic/engineer. After years on the tools I moved onto do automotive upholstery lol. Now I don't even work on cars for a living, I now get more pleasure and work done on my own stuff than ever and only need a shop for the dyno, but I know if I need I have trades I can always fall back on..

Yes it was , I don’t understand why some people get upset by a lap joint. Every car from new is covered in them. The only down side to a lap joint is that they can trap water if not treated after it’s done. There are other arguments but iv been doing this for 25+ years and never had a problem as have many other car restorers. They are used when access isn’t available unless making more work or cutting more good metal out unnecessary. :)

Love the fabrication and precision in the work. I just can't understand why you dont fabricate the inner arch first while you have good access to it (especially at the front of the arch? It would have been easy to gringd and treat the welds on both sides and plenty of room to work at. Instead you make the outer arch first and then fill in the inner bits. It also seems like most of the arch is rusted i the spot welds and there is rust in between the whole arch....

Have been watching your channel for a while now. Really like the work that goes into patching up and shaping the panels. But always leaves me wondering about longevity. You cut the rust out, patch it up, but rust can be rooted deeper than your cut, even in the healthy part of the metal it just not visible with the bare eye. Why is there no sandblasting involved in the process ?
