Fantastic Chris well done. I have followed your garden for a while now, and it's getting better and better. It looks as if you have the national collection of Traceys to me ,if I send pictures of mine could you identfy them I've only got a few. Peter

Nice to watch your palms progress. My T.wagnerianus are in the windiest part of the property, and have proven to be very resistant. Have hopes for T.f. Tesan to be similarly rigid, but they are as yet still at seedling leaf stage. Not to nitpick, but you do realize that you identified T. Nainital as T.nanus in your video. No big deal, as the signage was quite apparent. Lovely place and interesting videos!

3:49 those foamy short triangular ligules of your "Princeps Hybrid" are a Trachycarpus Takil characteristic. Either you have a large Takil or now you know it's possibly a Princeps-Takil/Kumaon hybrid. That makes it super unique.😊

That's an interesting thought. I wonder if their ranges overlap?

Great collection!! Which of these trachycarpus species is the most cold-resistant??

Good old fortunei

What is a Takil Kumaon? The takil is the Trachycarpus from Kumaon right? I never heard of Takil Kumaon.
@YorkshireKRIS2 жыл бұрын
This isn't a true Takil but was found in the Kumaon region and not a recognised species.

Would love to hear a video or podcast from you all about growing and care for palms in the UK and Ireland. What type of soil to plant in, best feed, should you cut off old yellow or damaged leaves, growth rate, how often to water, do you water in winter etc would love to hear your thoughts on it. Oh and some of mine have like white dust on the new growth. I have removed mine from pots and planted them out last week. Really hope they survive winter, 3 fortunei, 2 canary date palms and 2 washintonia robusta. I'm sure I spelt all those wrong 😂

I have 2 you don't have the Misan and the Manipur. But you have others i don't have great job !!!! Keep posting. But i think your Trachycarpus ukhrulensis is a Manipur
@YorkshireKRIS7 жыл бұрын
Eddy Feyen hi, Manipur is the old name for ukhrulensis, they are the same plant. I do have a few offer Trachycarpus but they are crosses and forms, not different species. I, also have Victoria, nagtunei, winsan.

Holy shit I had no idea there were so many variations of the damn Windmill palm. I still can't tell any difference between any of them except in their respective physical sizes. He keeps saying how the fronds are different on each one... Huh... They all look exactly the same as the next one. That said... It bothers me that Trachycarpus is the more cold-hardy fan palm... when the Washingtonia species is so much prettier and robust. The Washingtonia is such a robust fan palm they literally named one of the two varients robusta, and the other filifera. POLL: WHO PREFERS THE WASHINGTONIA PALMS OVER THE TRACHY PALMS?
@YorkshireKRIS5 жыл бұрын
There's certainly more species that most people realise. I would argue that a Trachycarpus princeps is more attractive than any Washy 😀🌴
