Hi there! I'm English with a niece who's Dad is Nigerian but doesn't see her much. She's only in primary school but I have a Modern Language degree and my niece is very quick to understand when I teach her. When she was a toddler, her Dad did speak Yoruba to her and I think she understands a little bit but This channel is so helpful. Odabo!!!

Note: writing of "mown " like mown jehun I think it should be mohun Jehun. I mean "Hun" instead of wn, God bless you.

Hello, Blessing, thank you so much for the lessons so far. Am an elderly woman with Yoruba in-laws,hence my desire to learn the language.Am struggling a bit since i lack the basic background common words. l often heard my in-laws used words like '' sha la fia, modupe, etc.Is there a book that sets out everyday words. eg come, sit, go ,then pronouns..he, she, they.. separately before i can form the sentense. Please, kindly recommend for me. This will help a beginner like me. Thanks again for considering my humble request. Regards.God bless.

the "are you going to fast?" one confused me because the pronoun is missing. but i am impressed that i was able to figure it out from what you taught me so i think it should be: So E Ma Gbawe? EDIT: i am going to guess that in yoruba the pronoun for the 2nd person can be dropped since the listener can infer it from the fact that you are talking to them.
