Awesome, I've done that Yosemite Falls Trail a couple of times but I was much younger, yes the valley gets very crowded in the summer. You miss things going too fast there, but I've been there 20xs or so, and there is always things I can't do. The best thing to do is park and get on their valley bus, FREE, and stop at the different places and hike. There is swimming available in that pool, which is cold, and the river too, snow water. So much to do there. Bridal Val falls trail is really nice too, much easier. Half Dome would have kicked your butt...This is a place to go back to, the best time to visit is early Sept after the schools are back in session, there is much less traffic then The Awannee Hotel has a very large room with a huge walk in fireplace and coaches, so you can linger there if you want a comfy place, once it was so cold where we camped we went there and played scrabble near the big fireplace a great time. Some of my favorite times of my life are in Yosemite. Thanks for taking us to the top of the world. Tioga Pass is amazing! Wonderful Robert!

The best way to see the Valley is to get a campground reservation there in the spring of fall and to bring bikes. Far less people and parking isn’t an issue. The bike trails are not crowded and you are not in your car all day.

One of the most amazing things I saw there were the huge huge sequoia red woods. One of them they actually used to drive a car through. I actually looked like a little ant beside the tree. The pinecones were about 12 inches long and 4 inches around.. it took you on a trail through the grove that led a trail that took you directly across from half dome. The sun was setting to the west so it was shining beautiful on half dome. And the valley was in bloom with all of the beautiful wildflowers reflecting off of the lake, and deer were roaming all over the valley. I think it is probably the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen. I can see why Adams loved being there so Much.

We did this hike back in June 2016 and know how difficult it is with all the switchbacks. The top of the falls is worth the pain and we swam up there for an hour. It was definitely our most difficult hike. Thanks for bringing back the memories. You continue to amaze us Robert!!!

Congratulations on getting to the point! We live about three hours from Yosemite, but avoid it like the plague until about mid-October. Too many people. Unfortunately, the poor park is getting loved to death. Just a note, if you plan to do more long hikes, be sure to carry extra water and a water filter. I can't tell you how many times I've had to bail out people who have run out of water on Sierra trails. Sawyer is a good, simple brand of filter.

The year we visited Yosemite was a high snow year. Because of that, we weren’t able to weren’t able to travel via the Tioga Pass Highway even though it was June. The road was still closed. Instead we had to travel there from Reno by way of Sacramento, then south. The upside, all of the falls were booming from the snow melt, making them very impressive.

When I stay in the eastern sierras I focus on the hikes along tioga road. When I want to focus on the valley I either come in the spring and stay in the valley or stay in el portal that is the closest town to the valley entrance. Lee vining is the closest town to the Tuolomne meadows area. In late spring and late summer tioga road and glacier point and the mariposa grove in Yosemite are open so I try to visit. Less crowded and uniquely beautiful. I made my first winter trip to Yosemite this past February and so glad I did cuz the world shut down right after that. Yosemite is never disappointing except for the crowds in summer. And their shuttle system is very efficient

That was an incredible video❤️next time make reservations to stay i the valley. You can then stay at upper pines campground or lower pines campground. From there you are able to shuttle around with no driving. There are many beautiful hikes. You can hike to the bridge very short hike then go a little further to vernal falls. Spectacular views. You can also access mirror lake very doable hike and very beautiful they now call it mirror meadow. You can hike to glacier point or half dome.Illoette falls is also a gorgeous hike. You can take a bus up to glacier point one way and hike down or do the round trip on the bus. Curry village you can get pizza and beer and wifi also delicious ice cream and a nice grocery store. From where you stayed your campground there are numerous hiking trails driving into the valley takes a lot of time so you need to hike close by or get reservations in the valley. Truly loved your video and that hike you did was a good butt kicker I’ve done that one before also there is a KOA campground very nice and the shuttle busses take you up to the valley. Thank you for sharing love your videos your cooking and your great enthusiasm and great personality and sense of humor❤️❤️❤️

Awesome job on this video, Robert! Yosemite Falls was my first-ever mountain hike and I was in my mid-thirties. My brothers planned the trip and I tagged along. "Strenuous" doesn't quite describe it. With a make-shift walking stick, counting 20 steps at a time before resting, I persisted to the top. It was sooo tough! But so rewarding and well-worth it. I was thinking the hike down would be much easier. Uh-uh. Tough on the knees and toes. Sorry about your shoes and water; two of the most essential things. Since then, I've hiked half-dome twice, before there was a lottery. The second trip up, the cables were teaming with people, both sides of both cables, in a hurry. It seemed very dangerous. They needed a lottery. Yosemite. Even the name is magical. Your video is accurately beautiful. All that's missing is the feel of the mountain breeze and some of the water-fall sounds. (Loved seeing the bear cub. I've had many bear encounters in the Eastern Sierras. Always a potential danger but fortunately there are no Grizzlies in CA)

I know this video is several years old, but thought I share my favorite time to go to Yosemite. It’s MAY. Before Memorial Day, the kids are still in school and the water is still high and the falls and just pounding. And the weather can actually still be coolish. Fewer crowds and better conditions! And plan you out of valley activities (Glacier Point, Wawona, Hetch Hetchy, and of course Tuolomne) for the weekends, cause the folks from SF come in for the weekend and the crowds explode. It had to be my favorite place.

Awesome! Back in 1980 I hiked up Half Dome...17 mile roundtrip from Happy Isle trailhead. It was my most strenous hike I've done and since then I haven't done any long hikes. Now much older at 72 I can't do any hikes like the one shown in this video. My legs just won't cooperate. That was a good video showing the trail up near the last mile and it looks scary. I would have loved to go up to Yosemite Falls when I was younger.

As a northern California resident we've never seen " a slow time" as so many buses and visitors come by during peak spring/summer months. The only slow time is the winter where many sites can be closed off due to snow or rain. Most of the tourist buses just drop off people for a few pictures at the falls and move on the to next site. They don't climb up the trails so its much less crowded up there.

Congratulations on completing this hard hike to Yosemite Falls! If you walk from Olmstead point a few hundred yards towards the canyon, the view is spectacular. Also, there is a dome across the road at Olmstead Point; 10 minutes walk up will give you a very nice view of the area. We shall return!

I've watched a lot of your videos since I found you Robert, I'm going to try to watch them all, since I'm living vicariously through you. I also sing along with you when I hear your Living Free in my RV song. Such a catchy tune! Cheers!

I grew up in Fresno, but I never hiked Yosemite Falls. You’ve convinced me that I need to do this!

Must hike yosemite upper fall. But Mist trail could be a little more beautiful and less strenous. You are next to Sequoia national park. If you go there must hike the lakes trail towards alta peak, this hike is more hard than yosemite falls

I have to be honest, I thought you'd chicken out to the top of Yosemite falls. Not only did you make it, but you went beyond to Yosemite point! You've got some real willpower, especially after enduring afternoon crowds right in the middle of summer! Excellent video! Thanks for sharing!

Just seeing this - Yosemite is the most wonderful, jaw-dropping stunning landscapes on earth. I see you went to Tahoe next - another one of Mother Nature’s gorgeous gifts. I am a wimp and never made the more strenuous hikes. Thanks for the views! Too bad you missed Bodie - definitely worth a visit!

I give you credit for visiting Yosemite in the summer. I did that once back in the 90s and will never do it again. Spring is magnificent, and autumn is quite nice. Next visit will be in the winter. I hope you filmed the Yosemite falls hike!

Well done, Robert. I love to hike but those heights would have been a deal-breaker. Yosemite is truly one of the most magical places on Earth. I have visited a dozen or more times and discover new wonders every time. May is my favorite time to explore the park, when the waterfalls are at their peak and the traffic is much lower.

Hello Robert, what a magnificent view from Yosemite Falls and Yosemite Point! I have been anxiously for this footage and it was amazing. My son and I are already planning a road trip this summer to Yosemite, Seqoia, Kings Canyon, and Death Valley. I am really looking forward to the next video footage. Great job Robert!
