Hello Traveling Robert! Such a beautiful drive amongst the majestic Redwoods. Northern California is so beautiful. I must say this though, the Oregon coast may be even more spectacular. You will see spectacular places such as the Oregon Dunes, the Sea Lion Caves, and the absolutely spectacular area called Cape Perpetua! We will be stopping a lot along Oregon's coastline. I really enjoyed the video. Looking forward to the next video series featuring Oregon! Oh and btw, if you can, take a detour from Cannon Beach and head east through Portland and into the Columbia River Gorge Region to check out the absolutely beautiful Multnomah Falls.

Thanks for another fun trip, Robert. I'm glad you appreciated the magic of the redwood forest, with the ferns and fallen trees. I expect to see a leprechaun peeking around a tree. I live in Santa Rosa, and have travelled those roads up to Eureka and back. I drove my '53 Packard, instead of a trailer like you did. I also enjoyed the Cheese Factory in Loleta. Keep on travelling.

That area from Westport to leggett became ghost towns after it became illegal to cut down redwoods. I’ve driven through the chandelier tree twice. It was pretty cool the first time I did it because I never had seen a tree so massive. But last fall a friend and I did a trip on avenue of the giants. What a fantastic time. The year before we went to lady bird johnson grove and stout grove further north of the avenue of the giants. I think it’s something everyone should experience. And if you get to do a ranger walk, do it! The avenue of the giants is more commercial and built up because people live all around the trees. It’s not included in national parks land. Actually the largest trees are not on avenue of the giants except for one fallen tree. The redwoods are not the largest tree but they are the tallest. Largest are the sequoia. Oldest are also in CA in the white mountains near bishop, the bristlecone pine. But the redwoods are almost eternal because of how they reproduce, not so much by cone but by cloning themselves in root and trunk burls. So the original trees may be long gone but the original roots from thousands of years ago live on in cloned trees

@@mystery4681 They are a 'pest' weed. If left unchecked they spread into crop land. Every state has 'pest' plants. Such as Wild Plum in Iowa and Thistle in many other places. There used to be fines levied years ago for letting Wild Plum and Thistle grow in a fence row. Iowa gave up on Wild Plum nearly 20 years ago and now it is making a comeback. If you're in Loleta again stay at the Humboldt county fairgrounds (there is a fee) and then you are near Ferndale for the evening which has great victorian architecture, bars, restaurants, and usually you can find live music. In arcata, the oriental buffet is great, and right off 101. Trinidad is fun to explore, and just north of there is Patrick's Point, which is one of my all time favorite campgrounds, but can be hard to get into. We used to make fake giant footprints in random areas along rivers, etc. Lol. It was the 70s at the height of the Bigfoot craze.

The thing about the northern CA coast, it’s always very moist and foggy year round which is the type of temperate rainforest climate that coastal redwood need. The drury scenic drive is much more pristine than the avenue of the giants. The trees that fall that support the growth of a new tree is called a nurse log. Redwoods are famous for that in addition to cloning themselves. If I could recommend a redwood trail, trillium falls hike, and nearby fern canyon that has no redwoods but is stunning. And the nearby beach and meadows are full of elk. But for fern canyon you have to leave behind the trailer. You need a high clearance vehicle to get to it or walk VERY far. But that area around Elk meadow is incredible. There is a day use fee for fern canyon but not trillium falls redwood trail

It's a special event. We like your music so much we actually played it on a past road trip to Kentucky. Of course we all sing along. The one thing we really appreciate about you Robert is that you are perfectly honest about your opinions on things. Cost of parks, attractions, and even food. If the food isn't good, you will tell us. If the service isn't up to par, you tell us that too. And you are not ugly about it, you are perfectly polite, and tell us it is just your opinion. Could be that it was an "off" day for the place, or food, etc. We really appreciate honest opinion. You are wonderful. Keep up the great work on the videos. I'd recommend also visiting Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park. There's the Pacific Ocean to view, camping, trails through giant Redwoods and a beautiful large meadow with seasonal visits by elk does so tame that you can get within a few feet to see them grazing up close; they are surprisingly large animals, nearly the size of a horse, and the bucks segregate just a few miles away! Prairie Creek might be the most beautiful spot in that area! I'm planning on a visit this summer, just a 3-4 hour road trip from my home in the Sierra Nevada (which is quite beautiful too). Thanks, Robert! Nice video of one of my favorite areas of Cal. I usually like to visit Paul Bunyan on my way to Oregon, Washington & Vancouver. OK, now I'm going to watch your video on Yosemite, the *most* beautiful place I've seen out of a dozen countries & 46 states!

This is an incredibly beautiful area for sure, so glad you filmed it! Just know, once you've seen one Redwood forest, you've pretty much seen them all. I love Redwoods, but would pick one area (typically Muir Woods) and leave it at that. If you go back, try stopping in the Alexander Valley and doing some wine tastings. They are affordable there, high quality, much less crowded than Napa or Sonoma, and generally have RV parking. Best of all, between the coast and the Alexander Valley, there is a Redwood forest you can drive through! Keep up the great videos!

Wow, my family and I were camping at Richardson Grove SP when you went by! How cool is that!? We camp there every summer. It's beautiful and worth it if you visit the area again.

Thank you for doing these great and entertaining videos Robert keep up the good work. We are learning and putting down places we want to visit. We are from Australia and are saving up so we can come over to the US in a few years and travel around for a year in a RV

Awesome video's Robert. Next time you are in Yosemite go to Mariposa Grove to see some really Giant Redwoods. Makes the ones you saw seem normal...hope you can get back on the road soon and congrats on 100k and your ambassadorship.
