Yoshimitsu's GUARD BREAK Set-Up | Tekken 8

This video has what you need to perform the guard break set-up with Yoshimitsu. It explains the combo routes to get the set-up to work and the implications on the opponent's options to beat it...if they can 😏.

Update: a fellow Yoshi brother sent me some advice, and explained that with this combo route that he shows kzbin.info/www/bejne/h5a8nIGujrqLpJI, he's not the discoverer but he's posted the combo route on his channel and this combo route legitimately has no weakness. You can't for example. *Quick Recovery *Side Roll *Side Ukemi *Wake-up mid or low kick *Recovery kick *Spring Kick Or even Quick Back Roll as shown on my video. The 3,1 route combo has weaknesses and can be beaten, the d2,2 combo route can be beaten with Quick Back Roll. However, the one shown on the link has NO WEAKNESS, THERE'S NO WAY TO BEAT IT. So with this in mind, I'm sure that Bandai will eventually nerf this set-up which will sadden the Yoshi community. I just Hope that at least the ones in my video can still be performed, but I doubt the one shown in the link will be left untouched😦. I'm being dramatic for the shits and giggles😅 but it's going to be a sad day for Yoshi mains if Patch 1.05 will address this set-up or any patch in the future.

The route I always use is: Launch - flash - heat burst - D2,2 (second hit delayed) D2,2,2 This route beats quick roll back, and since you go into heat you can get a heat dash combo off the guard break with b2,2,f After that you can do D2,2 D2,2 D2,2 D2,2,2 into a second guard break setup.

I am also stuck at the flame ruler rank. But I think that starting from the blue ranks it’s not just playing your character good but you also have to know about opponents character so you need time to learn the match ups to be able to rank up to higher ranks.

This is pivotal yoshi content. Each video is better than the last. Keep it up brother. 🔥🔥 I have a few friends that say this tech or guard break situations is too op and there is no counter play to it. Do you believe it is op cause my personally I don’t think it it. There are so many characters in this game have so much more grounds set ups and guard breaks. And if they nerf it, then I don’t see any situation where you can pull off his guard break consistently. It will almost become a gamble cause any player who’s reaction is on point will launch you for it when they see you charging it.

it can be beaten, if the opponent decides to quick backroll you'll whiff the charged 1+2 if the combo route is with d,2,2 - df1 - d,2,2,2 from my testing, while going through 3,1 - 2 - 2,4b they can't escape it but they can use recovery kick or quick recovery to beat the charged 1+2. The question is. Is the set-up OP or fair in the current state of T8

I found out you can pick up a combo with yoshis 4+3 move, (the front roll) if you micro dash and then use back 1

since yoshi always forfeits his combo ender for this setup, the neutral answer is to stay on the ground, there yoshi gets his damage for the combo ender back, and the game gets back to neutral. Its too dangerous for enemies to learn all setups for all distances, so its easier to just stay on the ground.

Another setup option you can do after the guard break is hop kick if they decide not to respect you. I think you're like +2 charged. Catches a lot of people off guard.

What is the input to get the guard break? Is it kinsho 2, 1+2? When in training I don’t see the armour break. How does it work? Do they HAVE to be getting up for it to work? Or does it break normally and I’ve set something up wrong in practice?

you are correct broski, KIN 2, (charged) 1+2. As long as they stand block, the attack will Guard Break.

So I have a question. Off topic. I was playing azucena today and battled a raijin Alisa. Remind you I'm wired not wi fi. Every time the Alisa attack, it lagged where I couldnt respond but when I attack it was fine. Could he have been cheating?

could be, or his/her PC is bricking hard. So it could be his/her PC is over worked by the settings that person placed to the game. If not then they may have shit connections.

Quick back roll isn't an option. If you mess up the spacing the opponent can qbr.

it is an option as I've run the tests, if you charge the 1+2 and they decide to QBR you'll whiff the 1+2, the only time the QBR won't work from my testing is when implementing the 3,1 combo route from your main launchers

I heard that the guard break is +14 against male characters, and +15 against female characters... havnt tested it tho..

Just tested this and no its +14. Would be pretty wild to get a DF2 launch out of this against a female character.

Long story short: don't ever use this combo because it is easy to block and does low damage.

@@sillytechnologythe purpose of this setup is to make the opponent block it as they’re standing up from the ground. You can then combo into it with back 2>2, which can either activate your heat, or can be combo’d into by holding forward after the fact. Yes, there is counterplay. Holding back can cause Yoshi to whiff. However, once you establish a respect from your opponent through the guard break oki, you can then go for alternate ways to pressure during the oki. Why wouldn’t we want to use this tech?

Power crush into heat.. yoshi doesnt even have that... 1 power crush move thats unsafe and doesnt even go into heat where it will heal the life you lost. Now you want to nerf even more... what about reina? Nina's f1+2, is now not launch punishable, but crush with heat... ridiculous...
