U-pol is a good weld through primer. I use it on panel replacement in the auto body side of welding

Hello I like you're video,and for welding primer I recommend copper weld true it sold by Kent I don't know if you have that there, I use it for 20 years just put one light coats and let dry 20 minute

Looks awsome. Curious as to why you chose not to strip the frame apart to start sand blast and coat the inner frame before you started plating though? Whats your plan for inside the rails?

Best weld through primer is the one you remove before welding. Haha I use a high zinc primer and a very small wire wheel on a drill to remove at weld time. For plug welding cut a drill bit flat to clean the holes. Nice work. Did you consider lifting the body off for welding?

upol copper weld through primer. i have hit the chassis with a blow torch after cleaning it with strip disc/acetone and then acetone again. seems to pull a lot of the oils up and out of the steel. I dunno, it could just be me though.

Using 3m 5917 primer.2 coats with 5-10 min flash time between.When the second coat flashes i clean where the plug weld hole will be with dremel abrasive..Then i do test weld on CLEAN metal piece with the same thickness and fine tune the welder. THEN INCREASE this setting with 20% more when actually weld to burn the primer and have a good weld. In collision repair , weldthrough primer is at dispute..Search "FCA explains ban on weld-through primer".

Hey man, I just discovered your channel, liked all of your videos so far! I’m a boilermaker by trade, I work in many different types of industrial plants, have encountered many different types of “weldable” paint/primer, it’s all garbage to weld. You’re doing the right thing by just tack welding things in place and then grinding as best you can. If you still get porosity, grind it out and weld it again… What is the degreaser you use? It would be cool if you did a video on some of your favorite products!

Extra steel in the front frame is probably over kill, since the V8 engine is lighter than the stock F engine, The rear section of the frame is a different matter, great job
