Between the two I would recommend the DM2 for you. However, I recommend you go on our website and read the YoTricks' Take on both products and see which one fits what you are looking for. Just go to the product page for each in our shop and you will see it there.

The kind of fluidity you see in our tricks just takes time and work. Pay close attention to the timing as the yoyo moves, and that may help. It is hard to describe, but once you get the feel for it, it should be better. What kind of yoyo are you using?

If you are ready to get into unresponsive yoyoing the Whip is a good way to go. If you are not ready for unresponsive yoyoing then the Luminator Advanced Kit is recommended. If you are not sure what unresponsive yoyoing is do a youtube search for: What is unresponsive yoyoing and you should be able to find our video where we explain it.

@Frogiful That is not necessarily wrong. After the first underpass, if you bring your opposite hand above your yoyo hand then you will be in a front mount. Instead of this you need to leave your opposite hand under your yoyo hand and push it forward into the string and then bring your yoyo hand under the yoyo. At this point you will basically be in a front mount again, so all you have left are the flips I'm not sure if that explanation is any better than the video, but hopefully that will help.

It sounds like you may not be keeping your fingers perpendicular to your body. Also make sure the string is on your yoyo finger in the middle of your finger and not all the way on the back. Hope this helps!

@TheVincentMo If you are looking to learn unresponsive yoyoing I would get the Luminator Unresponsive Kit, if you are looking to learn tricks like Split the Atom I would get the Luminator Advanced Kit. Of course both of these kits have the Luminator in common which is the best yoyo we have for 1-handed tricks. If you are interested in 2-handed tricks I recommend the Ultimate Two-Handed Kit.

@failfaillol That's a good question. It is hard to say, but usually bearings will spin about three times longer than a fixed axle yoyo. Even longer if you are using a large size C bearing.

@Charizard805 They are much easier if you have a ball bearing yoyo like the Luminator. (I do not know if the NED yoyo has a bearing or not.)

We have a video about how to throw a yoyo, but mostly it is just practice. Over time you will notice your throw getting straighter and straighter.

If you are throwing the yoyo crooked at all so that the string is touching the sides of the yoyo then that would explain why it is not sleeping very long. Otherwise, you are right, the Luminator should be sleeping quite a bit longer than that. I do not thinking blowing air into the bearing will help. We do have a video about how to throw a yoyo, in that video we give tips on how to get a good sleeper. Hope this helps.

@lilpolo20 When a yoyo sleeps to the side it is almost never the yoyos fault. A center trac bearing will make no difference with this either. You are right that the yoyo will go to the side when you do not keep the string straight, and the only thing you can do is keep practicing to keep your tricks more straight. You can also use the string to straighten the yoyo out when it gets crooked. If you push the string into the yoyo during a string trick it can balance it back out if it starts to lean.

@TheHeroicGrunt The Yomega Dash has a medium sized bearing which is okay for responsive play, but if you want to get into more advanced yoyoing the Ooch yoyo is a better and cheaper yoyo by the same company. It comes with a larger bearing which plays great out of the box, but if you clean it makes the yoyo perfect for unresponsive play.

Lube will not make your yoyo sleep longer, it will only protect it. To protect the bearing you should get thin yoyo lube. We have some on the YoTricks website.

They are both designed for different tricks. For string tricks I prefer the Luminator, for looping tricks I prefer the Dominator.

when ever i do that part where you go from a split bottom mount to passing it over and whatever he said, i always end up back into a regular front mount again. what am i doing wrong?

Most international shipping takes 4-6 weeks to arrive. If the yoyo is dying at this point it is possible that the string is constricting the axle. This happens on some yoyos. If this is the case I suggest you just remove your first finger on your yoyo hand from the string and do normal brain-scramblers.

Yes you can, in fact, most people only use unresponsive yoyos for string tricks.

Hmmm... my guess is that when you put the yoyo back together the string got caught between the bearing and the yoyo. This can happen if you put the string on the yoyo before you screw the yoyo together. Try taking your yoyo apart, remove the string, check to make sure the string is not too worn out, and then put the yoyo back together and then put on the string. Hope this helps!

I would try putting in some thin lube (either from YoyoFactory or YoYo Jam) or cleaning the bearing. If you have never cleaned a bearing, just get some mineral spirits (they sell it wherever they sell paint) and drop the bearing in it jiggling it around every now and then for about an hour or so. If none of that works you may need to think about getting a different bearing.

The balance on the legacy is actually pretty great. I do not know of any way to mod it, but I doubt it needs it anyway.

+Alexis Alexander Adjusting the string to your height ensures that your yoyo doesn't hit the ground during play, and that it is not too awkward to use. It is just a rule of thumb, but you can do whatever you like and it should be fine.

The two most important things is to have a powerful throw, and to keep the yoyo straight. If the string is ever touching the sides of the yoyo it will kill the spin very quickly. This is even more true when you land the yoyo on the string. It is very important to keep the yoyo straight so that the strings do not rub up against the side of the yoyo.

It sounds like you are doing just fine, you just need to keep practicing. Work on getting a strong throw to start, and do your best to keep all the strings straight in line with the groove of the yoyo. The thing that kills spin the most in string tricks is when the string is touching the sides of the yoyo. The more you can keep this from happening, the longer your spin will last.

If the yoyo is only spinning 5 seconds on the string it is likely that the string is pushing against the side of the yoyo and slowing it down. This will happen with most any yoyo. I actually like the Velocity when it is setup for unresponsive play, and it is tough to recommend another yoyo for the same price that would play much better. That being said, I do like the Legacy II. It has a larger bearing so it sleeps well, but is still under $25. Check the YoTricks website for details about it.

DailyRandomDose 500 If you set the Velocity up in the Pro Mode (unresponsive) it should be able to sleep for two minutes with a straight and powerful throw. The Velocity should have not problem with this trick.

JP Basile We used the Luminator in all of our early videos because at the time we were making the website for the company that makes the Luminator. Now that company no longer makes yoyos, so we have stopped selling the Luminator and now carry other models. @hwisang123 When you are getting into unresponsive yoyoing it is often true that you get what you pay for. If you are looking for a solid unresponsive yoyo I would look to Duncan or YoyoFactory as they tend to keep their standards quite high. Pick a price point (30-45, 50-75, over 75, etc) and find one that looks cool to you. If you get it from one of these companies you really can't go wrong.

I don't recommend that yoyo (which is why we don't sell it on YoTricks). It really only plays great when you have the response all the way out (no response) so that it plays unresponsive. I suggest you learn to bind as your next trick and then just use that yoyo unresponsive. It is pretty frustrating otherwise. Do a youtube search for: learn to bind an unresponsive yoyo as well as: easiest bind ever and these videos should help you learn to bind.
