Update: Yottamaster mentioned to me that they were typically getting read speeds using USB4 of over 2000MB/s. I was unable to retest but they provided some information that may help. Some brands of SSD default open hard drive protection mode, before and after the opening of the performance difference is large, if you need to get the best performance, please open the hard drive performance mode, open the path (Window10 as an example): My Computer (right-click)-Manage-Disk Management-Target Disk (right click)-Properties-Hardware-Properties-Policy-Better Performance

I get the sense you are fan of those SSD enclosures, good for you.

I bought one of these and it's going back. The standoff doesn't rotate in the circuit board. Connection is spotty at best. Tried 2 USB4 ports and 2 different drives. First and last Yottamater product for me. Drives work fine in an enclosure from another vendor.

What NVMe enclosure did you end up getting? I was looking at 20Gbps and had been eyeing a Yottamaster 20 Gbps.

it looks very nice!! i know is a bit bigger in comparison of the other ones but that one i would like to have this one out in disply instad of hiden sumewhere like the other ones.

How does Yottamaster brand compare to other brands that make NVMe M.2 enclosures? I was eyeing a Yottamaster NVMe enclosure that is 20 Gbps speed. I know some brands people complain of the design making the drive run hot due to bad heat transfer design of the case.

I'm wondering if you should also put a 2nd thermal pad on top of the heat shield to help it transfer heat to the case?

The top of the case is acrylic, it is not thermally conductive.

@@_Caddac Oh okay. Though I've decided to get the OWC 40Gbps NVMe enclosure. It's pricey, but it fits my requirements. i.e. 40Gbps, backwards compatible with USB-C so I can use it on older computers C and A ports, and it takes the 4 NVMe sizes so it's future proof. A plus is that it's all made of metal to help with heat dissipation.

I have a silly question. I have an old SSD with a factory heatsink. I want to use it for something but I don't have any systems at the moment that can take advantage of it. Do you think this enclosure can fit an SSD with pre installed heatsink? I mean it is ideal because it has a fan. The thickness of the SSD is about 1/3 or an inch or 8.4mm.

I have tried a few of my ADATA ones that have a factory heatsink and they fit fine.

@@_Caddac thank you so much. I'll take a punt. Really appreciate your reply.

Does yours also spins the Fan, even tho you fully shut down your Computer? Is see no reason why the Fan should spin if it does nothing
@_Caddac5 ай бұрын
If the port is providing power when power is off the fan will continue to spin.

@@_Caddac Thanks. Never had a use case for powered ports so I didn't had that in mind.
