Your example about joining your dream company, I did this mistake. I made it to my dream company, just to have someone above me treat me like I had no reason to be here and made me want to leave the company, for my mental health. I had made my job apart of my identity because I was proud of this achievement, it was hard to pass all the rounds of interviews, and that dream got crushed a few months later and I felt like I was a loser. And even now although I found another job, this experience still pains me, I feel like my career will be going only downhill. And I hate this feeling, so as you said, it's important to detach our identity from our job (or anything that can be taken away so easily). I've been trying to be less emotionally invested in my current job and instead focus more on hobbies that I had given up on, and my mental health is getting better. It is hard to not want to make our job, or our romantic relationships our identity, because that is what most people tend to value and reduce you to, but in order to truly be happy we HAVE to value better things.

This is one of the best advices anyone can get. The more you reflect, the more you'd realize that much of our self are choices, be it emotions, identities or problems. We give power to the elements of our lives. This is almost the same as the thing with Nihilism. As people realize that we are nothing and have no inherent identity, or that the world have no inherent meaning, they'd feel terrified and nihilistic because there's no purpose to live for anything anymore. However, you can also be on the other side. Since the world is a blank space, that means we can create our own meanings, we can create our own self, and modify our character with the values and identities that would make us happy and fulfilled, the possibilities are endless.

Agree for 80% As for national identity, sometimes it can be crucial. If Ukraine didn't reinvent its cultural identity, it already would've been defeated and turned away from its democratic pro-human right course. If each time the aggressor would try to put their vision and their identity to us we ignored and weren't resistant, we would've been conquered hundreds of years ago. I agree that being above your own ego is healthy and helpful, but you also need to be resilient enough to be able to protect yourself from the egos of others.

I asked you in another video about insecurities, but I think this video is even better than the one you responded with. When I think about it rationally, the things I let affect me (the insecurities) are all about my ego, and artificial bullshit I let myself identify with. I’ve gotten feedback in my personal life that I lack nuance, I see life in black and white, and this is something I’m strongly trying to work on. It’s so easy for me to revert to old habits, and let the ego resurface, I wonder if you have a practical strategy That I can apply to make this a daily habit, to truly let go of all that shit I get worked up over.

He would describe the EGO as a cork floating on the ocean, with the ocean being our subconscious mind, the real source of our emotions and feels, which really drive and control us.

Our true identity is a child of God. Once we realize and accept that we were created for God's love and companionship, everything falls into place. We belong to God and should act accordingly. Jesus told us that no one can snatch us out of his hand. Our ego disappears when we seek to imitate Jesus and listen to the words that He has spoken to us. The Greek philosophers had the right idea, but God Himself manifested in the flesh to teach us the Way to Him. Blessings to you.

Great video. Consciousness shines through you. Beautiful to see. Still it seems that when sharing from a non-egoic place one gets often attacked or even censored. But I see what you mean in the context of the ego. The process of Consciousness becoming more and more embedded in the physical body makes us humble, human and vulnerable and simultaneously stronger on a deeper level. The Heart gets reinforced. Maybe we could say that ego is about temporal power and being present as our higher self/Heart/no-self is true 'power'. It cannot be killed. When one is not afraid to die (which is the 'problem' with the ego in fact; fear of death) one stands free in the duality of earthly life and its challenges. I've been in a coma a year ago and it's true, in the beyond there is no fear, no worry... Just Oneness.

I like the advice given but I have some point to address too. The essence of what you are saying is don't focus on traits instead focus on action. Focus on trying to act properly, using "virtues" only aren't virtues also concepts that live outside our "selves" and once we start to strive for them are we not striving to a ideal version? So yes now the pain can't enter from the outside, but we can still generate pain from the inside because we think our current action is not "virtuous". Now you are your own worst critic, that can be very damaging, I can tell from experience. Next to this I think is it's misleading to call your essence, your true "self". I AMness does not resemble how we see our ego, self or identity in any way so to call the source your True Self, idk. Otherwise great talk, thanks for putting it in this way, you introduce the insight very shallow and invite the person to take the journey of the question "Who Am I?" to see how far the rabbit hole goes. It made me think of this TAO verse: Between birth and death, Three in ten are following life, Three in ten are following death, And men just passing from birth to death also number three in ten. Why is this so? Because they live their lives on the gross level. He who knows how to live can walk abroad Without fear of rhinoceros or tiger. He will not be wounded in battle. For in him rhinoceroses can find no place to thrust their horn, Tigers can find no place to use their claws, And weapons no place to pierce. Why is this so? Because he has no place for death to enter.

The word "ego" is a Greek word and it is the first person singular personal pronoun. It means "I". It was never meant to be problematic, it initially was and can still be, in the correct context, a very healthy word, as it it denotes the "Εγώ", the self. The self is all we have. Ego was supposed to refer to that. The self. Who we are. It got degraded as a word/notion in time. Someone at some point should talk about the word ego and explain to people how much of a beautiful and healthy word it fundamentally is.
