As MLK said, 'It's sociallism for the rich and rugged individualism for the poor'.

Individualism for the rich. Extreme "one size fits all" for everyone else. You had better be that round peg for that round hole or you can kiss your worthwhile life goodbye.

*I LIVE IN BULGARIA NOW* they still have society here cos they never had a Thatcher - you know what they also have??? The lowest level of mental health issues in Europe And functioning public services And busy thriving high streets And a working NHS And fantastic public transport And - lots of other stuff...

Bulgaria is the most unequal country in Europe so your claim it has the lowest level of mental health issues in Europe cannot be supported. What is the name of the NHS in Bulgaria as presumably it has a Bulgarian name? Britain is the second most unequal country in Europe.

as in all things there are no absolutes here.Cecil Parkinson started a select committee on mental health. The 1983 mental health act did away with frontal lobotomies, etc, insulin comas all of which used to be inflicted on mental health patients. the care in the community act released thousands of mental health patients into the community. Yes, health hazard wise thatcher was a liability but great strides in mental health were made in the eighties.

Yes I'm not really referring to those who were institutionalised but I agree nothing is absolute. The main issue I'm looking at is the sharp rise in depression, anxiety and people withdrawing from being social.
