Amazing video, I just got one of these. It is not however 125cc, it is 107cc that makes the same horsepower as a 125cc. I measured 5.02hp - 4.8tq on the engine@5200&5400rpm. Top speed 32mph, I will do pre/post video with performance carb, air filter, ngk plug, and 91 octane vs stock w 87. For the record, 91 does much better on these engines regardless.
@PraskaBoysGarage3 жыл бұрын
Brad! I need your help! How did you get all those specs? I have been researching small engine dynos both buying and building because I want to be able to build and test performance engines. Can you help me?
@adventurer41883 жыл бұрын
@@PraskaBoysGarage My friends shop has a Dynojet 250ix, out in Oceanside. They shut our county down so I have to wait to get back in there. The torque also is quoted to 6.5NM at 5500rpm, that was actually accurate to the wheels. You can either find one of these dyno’s, or work that number back from nm to tq, tq to hp via rpm. The actual dyno proved only a few hundredths off of calculation, if you know the % of power your upgrades will produce on other similar engines, you can use my dyno as a platform to launch. If your looking for raw big power gains, look no further than changing out the gear ratio. You’ll lose a few ponies up top, but massive tq gains will increase your acceleration and uphill maneuvers. If you screw with compression, bore, port polish and so on, expect to replace the flimsy rod before it snaps. The 107cc is already at the top of its power band and a bit beyond, hence its power matches 125cc specs. Also why it prefers 91 to 87 octane. I’d not toy with this engine too much further than what I’ve already done.

Just got me self a 125cc Chinese ATV that needs a chain and sprocket and was wondering what size to buy. Your videos are really good and really helpful.
@PraskaBoysGarage4 жыл бұрын
The most common chain size for these is 420. Rear sprocket size will depend on your torque/speed your looking for. If you google go kart gear ratio calculator is will give you links to input your wheel size, drive sprocket and rear sprocket. That will help you determine what tooth to purchase.

@@PraskaBoysGarage cheers for the advice on the sprockets. I have another question, I recently bought a new wiring harness with stator, when I went to fit it yesterday, I noticed that connection to the stator is different from the wiring harness, as in the stator has a connector block and the wiring harness just has bullet connector that you push together. Can you buy a connector block that would just fit on to the bullet connectors, or do you think I should cut the bullet pins of and solder them together.

Why remove the neutral indicator switch? Instead, run switched power from the ignition to one of the neutral switch leads. Connect the other lead from the indicator switch to the power lead of the indicator light. The remaining indicator light lead goes to ground. You will use 1 m of wire and several crimp on wire connector ends. If you cannot figure out how to do this, shrink wrap a cap over the ends of the neutral indicator switch leads and zip tie them out of the way. That way the switch will be there to connect the circuit back up and there will not be any dangling wires in the mean time.
@PraskaBoysGarage5 жыл бұрын
Jeffery Wright I agree with you 100% However for my videos I want to keep the builds simple. KZbin wiring videos are chaotic and hard to follow! Watch this rebuild I did: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i6jHgYSDd5ilo7s I thought maybe the low compression was from the carbon build up and scoring but really it was from a broken intake valve spring. Cheap Chinese 125cc quad sell new for say $900. You sell it used and refurbished for say $500. With initial cost, additional parts, time and labor, there is no real gross profit. Good job though. Step one is to see if the engine has compression and actually runs before going any further.

@PraskaBoysGarage5 жыл бұрын
Alright now Im not 100% but here is my educated guess: The oil is for motor break in. Add the oil to the first full tank of fuel. That way when it burns it will add an additional layer of protection for the cylinder wall and rings. Mechanics also use this technique when trying to bring back a motor to life that's been sitting for years.
@SuperDirtyred15 жыл бұрын
Thanks again, I finely decided to drain the shipping oil and put Castrol Synthetic Oil in then when I got to the battery it was empty no acid. I think that is what the clear liquid in the see through jug was Battery Acid. Any way after i finely figured out there trick on starting it foot has to be on the break in neutral for it to turn over & and the 125 cc runs like a bat out of hell, am 6 foot and I can even drive it and my son loves it and it's just big enough for me to sit in it teaching him how not to kill himself. If it's the first atv for the kids I would start with a Chinese brand, but buy it brand new. I've seen so many parents buy name brand or chinese brand and the kids don't ride them and they just sit in the garage. I've fixed everything so they all break regardless of brand, but I've learned it's all about the rider and how it's taken care of. As the kids show they want to ride more then I would look into buying a new or used name brand atv.

I’ve watched this video more time then needed lol, every time I have a question I always mean to come to the comment section but I get dragged back into the video then forget it by the time it’s over, well not today. The question is, the neutral/ park thing you took off behind the cover, does the new wiring harness come with the wires to attach it?
@PraskaBoysGarage4 жыл бұрын
No it does not. The wiring harness is generic and does not have the plug for it. I have a "how to" wiring video that goes into detail on the install process!

One more question, What paint stripper do you use that it is not damaging the plastic body panels? Mine is in pretty good condition with minor cracks on the front and would like to salvage it but I am afraid the paint strippers I have would melt the plastic.

Klean-Strip Interior/Exterior Paint Stripper Is what I use. I get it from my local hardware store.

I seen the battery has the vmc logo on it. Do you order most of the chinese atv parts from there? If not, who do you suggest?
@PraskaBoysGarage4 жыл бұрын
Yes, VMC is one of my top places to order parts from. They have excellent customer service, they ship parts to my house in 2 days, and they are competitive with pricing. If they dont have what I am looking for I will use eBay or amazon.
@mo86054 жыл бұрын
Praska Boy's Garage how do you determine some of your parts? I have a 125cc i picked up from someone, but it doesnt state the brand. I ran the vin on a random site, but that was no help. I need to find which key switch fits mine and im having problems seeing which 2 parts go together for the back rack as I currently dont have one on there to go by.

We bought 4 of these 2 months ago brand new. We have had mechanical issues since day one. My father has just got my sons running again and test drove it and it looks like it locked up and came to a sudden stop. There's no skid marks or body damage. No one could tell what happened. Hes in a coma from it. Is it possible for these to lock up and come to a sudden complete stop?
@PraskaBoysGarage3 жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear that happened. I personally haven't experienced anything like that before. It is possible that something could have failed to lock it up, but I have have to look it over to figure out the failure point.

My friend has taotao 150 atv he not getting any fire to plug i took the coil and put on mine and works so do you think it could be the stater or cdi box
@PraskaBoysGarage3 жыл бұрын
The CDI box goes bad on these all the time. I would stay it is more likely the CDI or a bad connection. The stators usually dont go bad, the wire does however get caught in the flywheel and break. I would inspect the stator and replace the CDI.

Thanks!!! My engine stand is my #1 comment across the channel! I came across the stand on eBay back in January 2018. The seller was bomcbe2kz7 If I remember correctly, I paid about $110 with shipping. It has 3 mounting plates for different types of small engines. Definitely money well spent for my shop!

I purchased the stand off eBay a few years ago now. The seller is hot and cold for posting them but I know he makes them. The stand gets so much attention on my channel so I think it's time I look into making them for myself! I paid around $120 plus shipping I believe.

Thanks man and I appreciate you subscribing to the channel! The table is actually a 4'x8' display table from a closing Kmart I purchased for $50 dollars a few years ago. It's very similar to pallet racking you can purchase. I love everything about the table other than it's not height adjustable.

Great vids BJ! I have to ask, what motor bracket are you using to when you test the motors on your bench? That is certainly handy! Also, what are you using for your table (and what size) where you put the atv’s up to work on them? I just got a used 110cc, ordered the harness, etc. and looking to tool up to do it again. Any info would be appreciated, thanks!

It's probably the most popular tool I have on the channel. I got the stand off eBay back in 2018, but the seller is hit and miss when he lists them. I am currently working with a guy who owns a CNC machine to start making them myself! The table is a display table I bought from a closing Kmart for $50 bucks. It is 4'x8' and works perfect, only complaint is that I can't adjust the height.
@MikeJaws4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the quick reply BJ. I was able to locate the mount on eBay but they want like $109 +shipping, i think i’ll try to wait for the Praska Boy’s Garage official mount LoL. One more quick question, i installed a completely new harness, i have spark, and tried the “finger blow off” compression test, and that seems fine. I try to start the engine but it wont turn over, the starter seems fine. I sprayed starter fluid in the spark plug hole, tried to start it, no dice. Same for the intake side, removed the carb, same thing. Engine oil is new. I ordered a compression tester to make sure i have good compression, waiting for that to come in. is that the correct next step or should i look for something else? As always any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hey, great video, watched 3 of your ATV builds. I have a 110cc ATV in Australia that I'm trying to fix up. The last owner swapped a 125cc into it, so there's no electric start. I'm thinking of buying a 110cc with a starter and swapping that in, since I don't want to kick start the bike every time, sound like a good idea? Anyways, thanks again, keep up the great content.

Just wondering how to figure out what size chain to get? The project I got didn't come with a chain, and looks almost identical to the one you did here.

My best guess is its probably a 420 chain or a 428. Chain is super cheap online so I typically keep about 10' of most of the sizes to make sure I have the right kind for my projects.
