@PraskaBoysGarage
@PraskaBoysGarage 4 жыл бұрын
The most common chain size for these is 420. Rear sprocket size will depend on your torque/speed your looking for. If you google go kart gear ratio calculator is will give you links to input your wheel size, drive sprocket and rear sprocket. That will help you determine what tooth to purchase.

@@PraskaBoysGarage cheers for the advice on the sprockets. I have another question, I recently bought a new wiring harness with stator, when I went to fit it yesterday, I noticed that connection to the stator is different from the wiring harness, as in the stator has a connector block and the wiring harness just has bullet connector that you push together. Can you buy a connector block that would just fit on to the bullet connectors, or do you think I should cut the bullet pins of and solder them together.

If it's the first atv for the kids I would start with a Chinese brand, but buy it brand new. I've seen so many parents buy name brand or chinese brand and the kids don't ride them and they just sit in the garage. I've fixed everything so they all break regardless of brand, but I've learned it's all about the rider and how it's taken care of. As the kids show they want to ride more then I would look into buying a new or used name brand atv.

I have a kolpin 90cc. I have put a new top end, carb, and coil. It has spark, compression and fuel but still won’t start. Anybody have any suggestions?
@PraskaBoysGarage
@PraskaBoysGarage 4 жыл бұрын
You need to isolate the problem. If you have spark and good compression you've basically covered a ton of potential problems. Ive seen faulty new carbs. Remove the carb and dribble a little fuel down intake and try to fire. If it pops off then you know it's a fuel related issue. If that's not the case then check your valve clearance and make sure that all your timing marks are lined up properly.
@nathanlway1
@nathanlway1 4 жыл бұрын
Praska Boy's Garage this is a 2 stroke atv. I’m not real sure on the timing or how to even mess with it. I tried the old carb same result. It sounds like it try’s to start but just won’t. Any other suggestions? I’m going to take the carb , and reeds off in the morning. Squirt a little gas and see what happens. If you can tell me how to do the timing and valve adjustment or have a link for that it would be greatly appreciated.

The power wire goes from the battery to the key and from the key to the start button. When you turn on the key do you have headlights and brake lights? If you do then likely the issue is with they push button. If you don't then I would lean towards the key. Not running well is more than likely a result of air/fuel in the carb. Could also need a valve adjustment. I would check the valves clearances first then work on setting the carb.

Cheap Chinese 125cc quad sell new for say $900. You sell it used and refurbished for say $500. With initial cost, additional parts, time and labor, there is no real gross profit. Good job though. Step one is to see if the engine has compression and actually runs before going any further.

Watch this rebuild I did: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i6jHgYSDd5ilo7s I thought maybe the low compression was from the carbon build up and scoring but really it was from a broken intake valve spring. Why remove the neutral indicator switch? Instead, run switched power from the ignition to one of the neutral switch leads. Connect the other lead from the indicator switch to the power lead of the indicator light. The remaining indicator light lead goes to ground. You will use 1 m of wire and several crimp on wire connector ends. If you cannot figure out how to do this, shrink wrap a cap over the ends of the neutral indicator switch leads and zip tie them out of the way. That way the switch will be there to connect the circuit back up and there will not be any dangling wires in the mean time.

Jeffery Wright I agree with you 100% However for my videos I want to keep the builds simple. KZbin wiring videos are chaotic and hard to follow! I love the plug and play option and unfortunately that means losing the neutral and reverse light sometimes. You should do a video explaining how you would hook it all up! I’d watch it ;)

We bought 4 of these 2 months ago brand new. We have had mechanical issues since day one. My father has just got my sons running again and test drove it and it looks like it locked up and came to a sudden stop. There's no skid marks or body damage. No one could tell what happened. Hes in a coma from it. Is it possible for these to lock up and come to a sudden complete stop?
@PraskaBoysGarage

Sorry to hear that happened. I personally haven't experienced anything like that before. It is possible that something could have failed to lock it up, but I have have to look it over to figure out the failure point.

Best bang for your buck is to upgrade the carburetor. They sell a 32mm mikuni Chinese knock off on eBay that works great. That and a lithium battery are my go to upgrades if I am keeping them!

Thank you! This harness is set up with a specific stator the fits inside the flywheel case cover. I would not work for the older Hondas. You might get away with a mid 90s- early 2000s Honda dirt bikes and using the chinese dirt bike harness, but that's about it.

My friend has taotao 150 atv he not getting any fire to plug i took the coil and put on mine and works so do you think it could be the stater or cdi box
@PraskaBoysGarage
@PraskaBoysGarage 3 жыл бұрын
The CDI box goes bad on these all the time. I would stay it is more likely the CDI or a bad connection. The stators usually dont go bad, the wire does however get caught in the flywheel and break. I would inspect the stator and replace the CDI.

@marlinknable3543
@marlinknable3543 4 жыл бұрын
A good way to strengthen a frame that's broke like that it's to take pipe and cut it long ways in half. Drill holes in it so you can plug weld up and down the frame. And then you can weld the ends as well. You can put 1/2 on the bottom and 1/2 on the top if room allows but you can't put it over top of that heavy booger weld!

Hey Praska. I just changed the wiring harness on my son's Taotao 125cc atv following your video as well as some of my own mechanical knowledge. My son's 4 wheeler has the neutral, reverse sensor cable as well as the green and red light up near the handle bar. How would I wire that up using whatever I needed off the old harness? Is that possible? Really hoping you reply. I need your experience. Thanks

Dude should have never cut that much weight, and I’m sure the PEDs were to offset his loss from all the weight cut. I don’t like what he did but 2 years is too long of a punishment I think. I mean he tested clean after beating the snot out of Cody both times!
