Cannot justify buying this at almost 300€ when you have great full face helmets for the same price or less. The previous dropframe was an ok compromise but this just seems totally overboard when you have amazing light stuff like the ixs trigger mips for 100€ less.

I actually like the open ear ports of the old Dropframe as you can hold a conversation on the bike. Something that's not as easy when wearing a full face. My old Dropframe has been a good helmet.

@TheLoamWolf Nice review thanks mate. IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE - For those who are looking to buy this helmet - YOU NEED TO TRY IT ON. 1. Fox has changed sizing on this model. I'm a Medium in the old DF which is sized 54-56cm. The new DF Medium is now sized 55-59cm. Medium was way to big for me. I'm a 56cm head. If you put the old and current Mediums beside each other the new Medium is a much bigger lid all round. The old Medium has the same prolife size as the new Small. In the new Medium I needed to tighten the BOA up all the way to get the "snug" feel. There was also too much movement. So I went with a Small. 2. The chin strap comes down the side of the inside of the helmet and also has one coming from the back to join and make the V. For some reason the one coming from the back is longer then needed and so the strap runs across your ears depending on how big your ears are (mine are fairy large). This can be a bit uncomfortable but not a deal breaker. In a Medium it was fine but the Small is very noticeable. In time wearing it you don't notice it after a bit. Something to consider. 3. You wont get the exact same "snug" old Dropframe Pro feeling with this new lid. As said in the video Its based off of the Proframe style so if you dont like the Proframe full lid feel you may not like this either. I dont like the Proframe feel and run a TLD Composite which as a much tighter feel inside where as I found the Proframe to feel distant from my head and not supportive (just my presence). This style probably does give you better airflow however. All in all I made a Small work by swapping out some padding. The old Dropframe Pro was a great helmet and I recently had a huge OTB where I landed on my head on a rock shelf. The helmet was impacted in three places: Two on top and one on the backside of the head. My head was very well protected. The helmet didn't crack but I have replaced it with the new one which gives me some upgraded foam tech, upgraded MIPS, and a even more protecting profile. Hope this helps someone.

The previous Dropframe is my favorite helmet by far. I have some full face helmets, but I typically end up wearing the Dropframe, even while riding enduro/downhill terrain. I think the increased vision from the lack of a chin bar makes me feel more comfortable while riding at speed. Perhaps its because I can better keep my eyes up and use my peripheral vision to see what is right in front of me.

Very interesting feedback!! Thanks for sharing. It does give us a weird “confidence boost” compared to a normal trail lid but then we often find ourselves saying, oh wait my chin is just dangling out there hahaha.

Why would you wear this over the proframe rs? It's bulky already so might as well protect your teeth while you are at it

Anecdotal note on the included gopro mount - I crashed last Sunday with my proframe rs and even though my gopro was on a chin mount the included visor mount detached. Not sure how much I trust it after this, but no complaints - the proframe saved my face

Fox needs to thank Ronnie Mac 69 times for his genius design idea. He was really the brains behind all this even though you can't wear it on a 2 stroke.

Can you drink out of a bottle with the Proframe RS? Honestly that’s why I grab my DropFrame more than my Stage… local trails < 15 miles, I use a bottle over camelback, and my FF Stage doesn’t have clearance for a bottle without lifting up to top of head.
@TheLoamWolf
@TheLoamWolf 10 ай бұрын
The Proframe RS has a larger hole in the mouthguard. The bottle wont fit it but it's relatively easy to pour / squirt water through the opening and into your mouth. Good question!

More coverage than some other open face but at the price of a lot of full face helmets. Looks good but it just feels like they keep trying to creep those helmet prices up higher and higher.

I´ve just recovered from a broken jaw..I was wearing the POC Tecal mips hitting a tree...This helmet whould have saved my jaw, but so would a full face have done...then again, it´s expensive, and very grappy on the head, so mips is less active in a rotational impact...i don´t now...looks allright though..

Nice video Sir. I have a few questions though. I use to wear a size M (57cm head circumference) of a Fox Speedframe Pro but, when had a try to the previous Dropframe....my head couldn't get in a Medium size and had to opt for a Large size. Do you know whether this New Dropframe has the same issue? Second question: in winter I'd like to wear something warmer than the Speedframe pro (I'm NOT in the position of having a one do it all helmet); would you suggest this new Dropframe Pro for this purpose, considering that I ride ebikes mostly in short but continuous uphills/downhills (trail/AM)? Thank you very much!

I was in the same boat as you and had to up-size to a Large with the original Dropframe Pro, however this is not an "issue" with the helmet as a lot of people seem to think. Fox clearly states the size dimensions for each one of their helmets on their website, and the original Dropframe was simply sized differently for whatever reason; it has always been accurately represented in Fox's size chart on their website. With that being said if you take a look at the size chart for the Dropframe V2 it looks like they changed the sizing to match closer with their other helmets, but you should still always check the size chart for every different helmet lineup because they can be sized slightly differently even if they are made by the same company. Hope this helped.

I had a buddy that was a Bell helmet rep for a while. The after tooling manufacturing cost of the top helmets are about $10 bucks. The tooling is crazy money but after the tooling is paid for, they are strait profit.
@JasonMatthewCrabtree
@JasonMatthewCrabtree 9 ай бұрын
Well you also have to make up for the engineering, design, prototyping, mock-ups, testing, as well as the tooling for the large scale Manufacturing. Not saying companies don't do well on helmets but there's a lot that goes into it as well

Okay what does a HELMET need an e-bike certification for?
@TheLoamWolf
@TheLoamWolf 10 ай бұрын
For legalities, it sounds like primarily European-driven, eBikes can be ridden consistently at higher speeds, urban Class 2/3 ebikes have 28MPH speed ratings, and so to be certified for road/safety test rated for sale, brands are opting to spend the money to meet these tests so they can be sold to larger markets.
