Oh my goodness NataLee ! I am in absolute awe of your creativity and use of power tools. I too use power tools, and about a week ago I had ( seriously no kidding ) the idea to replace my monster of a fireplace with a simple built in. My husband and I work on projects together and we came up with ( you guessed it lol ) and almost identical rendering as you have flanked by 2 built in shelving units. Once again my friend you amaze and inspire me . Love & Blessings from Nova Scotia, Canada 🇨🇦 xo

Hey lady, I was wondering how big a air compressor you used to be able to use the big nail gun? I have a 2 gallon, 100 PSI air compressor and want to get a big nail gun. My home was built in the late 1800's so I always have to drill a hole before I can put a nail in the wall. Hopefully, a big air gun will help

Hi, NATALEE, I JUST GOT CELL SERVICE TODAY. I WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO WATCHING THIS DIY THE DAY YOU ACTUALLY POSTED IT. IT FELT LIKE BLACK FRIDAY TO ME, THE ANTICIPATION AND MY EXCITEMENT!! THEN.... LAURA HIT OUR AREA AND MY HOME (and A LOT OF OTHER People's) SO I WAS SO EXCITED TO BE ABLE TO WATCH IT THIS MORNING. I ACTUALLY STARTED CRYING! I've always wanted a FIREPLACE. When you said that you have wanted one for over 20 yrs. It got me. Idk... For me, my reaction was normal when I saw how It came out, so Stunning and BEAUTIFULLY BUILT & Crafted. Very CHARMING AND GORGEOUS!!! The DETAIL and HARD WORK you and your hubby put in, I was just blown away. I AM IN LOVE !! I was so Excited and happy for you. So, my tears, were tears of Joy! We were hit Hard by HURRICANE LAURA. I'm not Complaining. I'm just devastated. We had no power for 7-9 days. It was so hot during the day and night. GOD IS STILL GOOD ALL THE TIME! PLEASE, ALL DIY NINERS, PLEASE PRAYER FOR ME, FOR US. Natalee, I LOVE YOU and ALL OF YOUR DIYS ARE ALWAYS SO HIGH END. LIKE SOMETHING I WOULD SEE IN A MAGAZINE regardless if it's Small and Simple or Large, you are always Spot on. Tyfs.... 🙋‍♀️😍😍😊❤❤❤❤😭🎆🤗🤗!! Love you Nat! God bless! You are Uber TALENTED. I look for you to have your own DIY Show!! A-MAZ-ING!!

I totally understand. We once went 10 days without power and internet after a storm. It was terrible... So I get it. Thank you so much for your sweet kindness. I will pray for you and others...affected by the hurricanes and the fires. It's trying times. But you can count of me for upbeat videos to try and get your mind on things. As for my fireplace... I am ecstatic... literally smile every time I pass it. Turn it on every night and sit by it. I feel proud of the work that was done. =) We can do hard things!

I used this shiplap idea and it came out fantastic. I can't post a pic here for some reason but I shiplapped a frame which had an opening for the TV and the fireplace below with a mantle in-between. The only "save work" hint I would give is to be sure to the first coat of paint on your shiplap boards BEFORE installing them. Those little cracks are very difficult to paint afterward. Do the final paint layer after it's up. We priced a granite slab for the mantle above the electric flame fireplace but that was $800 so we glued two pieces of fake wood together and painted it shiny black. Looks great. thank you

Natalee you do not need a licence to be a carpenter. You have the talent, the drive and mostly, you're fearless. And you make it look so easy. I'm in awe. I'm a woman, hear me roar. I'm hearing you. Excellent job. My jaw is on the floor! I am so happy you have your dream fireplace! Electric was the way to go in Florida. You would rarely use a wood or gas one, but electric you can use all year round! You should definitely feel proud of yourself! That turned out amazing! I recently built my first piece of “real” furniture and I felt the same way. My husband is all about the safety glasses, etc., too. He brought me some nice ones (as far as safety glasses go) that are readers too, so they help me to be safe and still be able to see my cut marks, where to drill, and all that. He just bought me a router table for our 18th anniversary and I’m so excited to have a new world of options available to me. I’m drawing plans for new kitchen cabinets that I plan to build myself. I love your channel and your personality. Keep rockin’, girl! 😁

Fantastic! You give me hope re my own skills with an air compressor I bought recently. I’m a life long do it yourself gal but am losing strength as I age due to a progressive disability. I’ve used power tools for years but do have some fear of miter saws. For the last several years I’ve needed to switch my battery op tools for lighter, more compact but stronger models. Now I must get rid of the battery powered power tools to keep being “doing.” I need to go pneumatic so the business end of my tools are as close to featherweight as they make ‘em. But I’ve been tremendously intimidated by air compressors for some reason. You make it look easy peasy. I have been acquiring pneumatic tools for a couple years now as I acquire funds. Finally bought the last of them: air compressor, hose, tips etc. Never thought of the air hammer for removing my entry and dining room tile. I figured my multi-tool would get them up. Thanks for this lightbulb moment😍. BTW: Researched for the air compressor unit for a couple years. My aim‘s been the least weight machine (strong enough to drive nail guns lighter than a framing nailer) I can actually lift. For example, I can’t lift your Porter-Cable model but I’ve tried. Bostich unit -same thing. The winner, I hope, is a Dewalt 18v battery op a-c model. Reviewers claim (construction as well as DIY folks) works dandy just not for production type jobs. It’s costly versus the well rated but inexpensive corded models. Anyway, it’s mine now and I’m running out of excuses not to use these darn things. Your video is just what I needed young missy! I’m 77, not ready to stop diying despite my physical limitations. I’m gonna put my pneumatic tools, bits and parts together and DO !SOMETHING! with them within the next 2 weeks. Not sure what, but something. You are really amazing! Thanks a bunch.

You are such an inspiration! Beautiful job. I think the great thing about you doing your own work is that there is nobody there to tell you "it would be better if you..." or "that's not the way it is done." The finished project is beautiful and I can't wait to see it when you finish the built-ins on each side. I love the fact that you got advice from Leah... I love her channel too!

Wow! That's incredible. I would place some old fashioned style individual tiles in the square spaces at each corner to make it look either Mission or Arts and Crafts era. I just removed the 1982 era pre fab corner fireplace that was a real fire but much too large for the room. I had to rent a demo hammer from Home Depot to remove the brick wall facing. It really opened up the space, enough to install a 3 ft. by 70" long window where part of the brick covered up the wall. I decided to build a faux electric insert fireplace along one wall, with built ins.

Just a little suggestion, I usually put construction adhesive between the cement floor and the bottom studs. Using both the adhesive and the shot nails (I was so scared the first time that I hit that shot!) might be an over abundance of caution but there is no way that they will ever move, lol.
