Hogan, Nicklaus, and Woods. These three generational golfers all distinguished themselves. (With respect to Snead, Palmer, Watson, and Ballesteros). Nicklaus was asked by Golf Digest if Tiger Woods was the best ball striker he had ever seen. His response, as a man who had played against them both, was "No,no-Hogan easily." At this time, I don't know if this generation has a player that can perform above their peers as these men did. As yet. But if your looking for a great golf swing, Ben Hogan, even though his time was long ago, would be a good study. Great video Steve. I love the history of the game. Thanks.

This has been one of the best ever. I have watched it three times now and shared it with my granddaughter. It seems like you can watch nine out of ten golfers on the range and see arms flailing around from a stiff body or rushing the downswing. Your last number of videos have been great.

Hogan, the GOAT; from where he started to where he finished, Greyhound Bus and all. He may possibly have won the Grand Slam in 1953 if it hadn't been for a scheduling problem that prevented him from playing in that year's PGA Championship. To the best of my knowledge he never had a coach, sport psychologist, personal trainer, or any of the other "entourage" folks that present day golfers have. He did it all by himself. He has 63 PGA wins, 139 top three finishes, and 241 top ten. And that was interrupted by a two year stint in the Army during WWll and the aforementioned Greyhound Bus collision that very nearly killed him. Ben Hogan, my hero!

Hi Sj , I just changed to this technique by chance - the biggest benefit of this technique is the face alignment _ I’m now hitting irons straight within 3 mtr radius. And although I feel I’m swinging slow I picked up 10% swing speed. Weird but I now remember the basics when I picked up the game. Thanks for confirming.

As a junior (when there wasn’t internet) I spent time reading Ben Hogan 5 lessons, Harvey Pennicks little red book, Faldos winning formula etc (still have them). I learnt so much, but easy to forget when you watch the ‘next best thing / quick fix’ on KZbin. Hours spent reading and trying cannot be replaced. Having tried Eureka and winning a competition using it for the first time on the course (2019), I know it works, the difficulty is trying to eliminate other external influences.

Great tips as ever Steve !! I inadvertently started doing this a month ago to help with wedges (purely by luck) and found it sorted my chipping and wedges. Have extended to all irons now and have gone from someone who struggled with low point control to hitting some of my best irons for years! Swing feels shorter but seems to increase speed and control so much !! I even now need to use my dead aim marker now as I can hit greens 🤣 keep the great content going mate 👍

Great lesson Steve I’m a great fan of Ben Hogan, Gary Player reckons he was the greatest ball striker. I also suffered from an over swing and got the yips on the tee, so this will help keep the discipline and keep the connection and generate a compact swing using the torso rather than arms. Many thanks Steve! Kept the right arm/ elbow in tight to my right hip struck the ball better and straighter also get a much better rotation and stops me from an over swing.

This is so good. Such a crisp strike. I´ve been watching a lot of Hogan stuff recently in an effort to improve my swing, as I get disconnected at the top, flying right elbow and a bit steep, and tend to draw all my irons, probably due to my strong grip. There´s no way you could have a strong grip doing this, but yet my strike improves when I weaken my grip. I really need to get on the range and get this grooved in. Thanks for this :)

Having just tried this again at the range it certainly works. Having your arms positioned in this way encourages a lot of good things as you can’t cheat the system. Out of 40 balls tonight with an 8i, 50% we’re scarily straight, and where I didn’t quite keep the correct form, 10yds left or right at most. Pretty good for something I haven’t done for 10+yrs.

I used to aim down the right, and turn all my shots over, but I couldn't avoid the occasional smother hook. I added this 'elbows' idea to my preshot routine, and I am more accurate, but now I have to adjust my aim line to accommodate the straighter flight. One thing at a time. I'll get there.

Hi Steve... great video. Hey I've got a quick question. With the elbows connected to your side in the takeaway wouldn't one lose distance with the arms so close to the body? I've heard that your right arm should be separated from your body in order to get more distance. If your arms are squeezed against your body you'll be accurate but bot long. Correct me if I'm wrong ty. :)

Thanks for the video. But however, I notice when you actually watch Ben's swing, his right elbow at address, is not facing his hip, I hear a lot of coaches say the same thing as yourself. But when you look at Ben's setup. His right elbow is not facing his hip...am I missing something??
