The only thing that would improve it is using Equivalent Exchance and some of its addons. Add an Egg to an EMC link, and you remove the need for chickens altogether.

@@havefeith You 100% did not put any thought into that, did you? If you're already using an EMC link, why would you not use a better fuel that's more EMC efficient? The point of the chickens is that it's compact and infinite compared to other methods, but if you're including other mods into the mix that goes completely out the window, *especially* if it's an EMC link of all things

Ironically, Me and the boys on the Create mod reddit were working on compact designs. I ended up making a 1 tile (tileable) design, which spiraled into very tiny boilers. I think someone got a 3x5...

I too have been obsessed with the create mod of late - along with another mod called Eureka - ships for valkyrie skies. Long story short, ive been trying to find a way to make create contraptions that can fly and be mobile like the ships, planes, subs, ect that ya can make with the eureka mod, i had zero luck with making create machines keep their functions once they were made into mobile entities that the player could drive or fly. BUT!!! Now after watching your video i think I've finally found my solution to that problem. Honestly its so simple that i entirely overlooked it until now xD - but seeing how that compact steam engine works has given me insight i did not consider before now. So ty!

​@@TheThundercow nope. as its not out for 1.20.1, just base Valkrie skies and Eureka for Valkrie Skies. turns put ya cant get certain things from create to function properly no matter what ya do with with them on a Eureka created flying contraption, as rail based tech(anything thats a minecart or train) losses functionality and just stays fixed in a status position where its placed down on a eureka based creation, killing alot of build ideas i had in mind sadly.

I don’t think it can be smaller, the whole point of this is that the mechanism fits within the frame of the boiler. You need the fluid tanks, you need the blaze burners, and you need the steam arms, there’s nowhere you can skim off extra blocks. You could remove the entire mechanism from the boiler setup, and it’d still be the same size

hate to point this out, but due to a bug, the infinite water source needs block under it even if its waterlogged stairs in order to work properly, if it doesnt have it, it just wont replenish the lost water, that means this isnt layout sized, sorry! :(

Cuz I feel like you could just make an egg farm connected to a dispenser pointed at a blaze burner under the tank, and do that a bunch, and there you go! While this is lvl 9 steam engine de jure, I believe the lag of ChickenCore™ technology lowers tps enough, so this steam engine produces less energy per second (or per CPU), thus lowering the production of the entire factory. However, it's definitely a good science project.

This makes me wonder if this would works with eggs from the Equivalent Exchange Refined EMC Links. Or whichever EE addon has those... it's the only thing that would make it require 0 chickens, thus making it survival friendly, and server friendly. As long as Eggs have EMC, you can literally get one, teach it to your system, put an EMC link that's fast enough to fill that storage system up, add the Egg to the EMC link, and you're off to the races. This one is impressive, don't get me wrong. Other mods only add on to what's already there.

Fun fact this can get even smaller on scenarios where the LavaConversion gamerule is on. For my singleplayer map, I did a 4.5x6x5 boiler (where the tank+engine itself takes 3x6x5 -- .5 block is an optional trapdoor to stop fluid leaking) That gamerule is so handy for Create
