Went from 7 shanks the day before received to 0 with the F2 wave duel soul the first day played with the 56 and 60 this week. I was so frustrated trying to stop shanking hence the purchase. Better then expected. A lot more confidence now 65 yards and in.

I’m sure if there is a shaft and there is a hozzle connected to the club head, there’s a possibility of shanking it.

Even with a wood where that area is flat and the club face tends to strike the ball before the hosel. It just goes straight left instead of bending viciously to the right. Any ball which comes off the extreme inside of the club face always results in a terrible shot.

Perhaps you could go to Golfbidder and find some Cleveland VAS clubs from the past. They were claiming the same years ago with a full set of irons. They were referred to as eating utensils. I believe Cory Paven used them for a while.

It's already been done. Fila had an entire line of irons in the '90s called Latitude that had the leading edge forward of the shaft line, creating shank-proof hosels. They were also darn near impossible to hit.

I've got older versions of these clubs and I love them. The best technology of this club is not really the shank prevention, it's that the face forward is excellent for making contact with the ball first. If you consistently hit an inch or so behind the ball, this club is for you. I've never hit a club more crisp than I do these wedges. One other thing is that these are way easier to lay open and hit flop shots. (At least the older versions are)

I will I do have an Extreme X5 52 forward face wedge and I love it. I got it about 5 years ago. It's a perfect club 80 to 100 yards with a fairly full swing. But good with shorter shots too down to about 50 yards. At which point I'll pull out my 68. The club was $25 back then. You can search for it and get it today for $9 both in 52 and 56 right and left handed. This club you are showing I'm not sure. Haven't heard of it. But I've heard of some drivers made in a similar way. One of which has the shaft and hosel coming straight from the center.

I have a different brand of face forward wedge and agree that it is good from the trap. My home course has no sand traps (very small greens and water on 40% of the holes) so the only time this type wedge goes in my bag is when I play a course with bunkers and even then I can use my 54 degree sand wedge most of the time. The face forward wedge does give a higher trajectory for the deep bunkers.

Sorry Pete, but this is a wedge and there is nothing that I cannot do with a wedge apart from find the middle of the clubface. Knife and shank to the point that I can only practice my short game once a thorough risk assessment has been carried out? - Always Yip chips so badly that it now occurs with any club I try and use around a green? - Simples. Struggle to keep both feet on the ground? - I can defy gravity. Get a 3 chip par on a Par 5 hole with the perfect hat-trick (duff, thin and hole-out)? - More than once. Chip into a bunker you have your back to? - Also more than once. Scoop a short chip from rough so badly that it falls off the clubface behind you on completion of a full follow-through whilst leaving the club pro you are playing with rolling around on ground that has been frozen for several days? - Easy If it has a leading edge I can knife it or stick it into the ground. If it has a shaft joined anywhere near the clubface I can achieve previously unimaginable horrors of which shanking is probably the least disturbing. A wedge with no leading edge with the shaft connected to the back of the clubhead is the only answer. Thank God I can still putt and achieve those crucial up, up, up and downs to salvage the odd point. Many thanks for allowing me the opportunity to unleash a cathartic rant.

Say someone tends to early extend, causing the toe first contact with the ground. ( also causing a shank from time to time ) Could you switch the lie angle to more upright? So when you extend up, your club is technically flush with the ground. Example at address the toe might be off ground, slight early extension at impact. Thank you in advance
@JohnnysaidWhat

It's good to take a slow mo vid of this on your cell phone if you can. A shank can also come from a very closed face. There is a great butch video on it. The video will help you see if your shank is from an open face or a closed face. If you are practicing on real grass the divot will also show you (the closed face will give you a very skinny divot)

Sadly, the current wedges I have in my bag were passed down to me and I have been having consistency issues with them. They have that weird curved leading edge like the wedge here, and I never knew why I couldn't hit my targets. Seems like I should invest in some vokeys as the next addition to my bag.
@thatgeezeruk
@thatgeezeruk 4 жыл бұрын
The consistency is only down to your swing and the ground you are playing on. If you hit that club or any club in the same spot every single time off the same lie with the same ball the same thing will happen every time. A metal is not liquid or fluid so it does not change, the only variables are you the ball and the ground. Forgiveness is a different thing entirely and only down to the manufacturing and design. Another great video and how strange it actually works best from the shank spot.
