That’s not what this means lmao it’s js a testament to A. WB and DC in general need to move on, and stop making unneeded sequels. B. This clearly only happened as WB wanted an unnecessary sequel to a great movie and they knew that it could never match the first one, it was always gonna fail, there was no world where this movie was better than the first one. This js shows how out of touch and money hungry WB has gotten. They are desperate, which is why they keep deleting half their back catalogue for a quick tax write off.

I mean there have been times where times where studios have sabotaged their films not wanting them to do well, but that was because of outside factors. IE the film was made under a producer who doesn’t work there anymore but is contractor obligated to release it in theaters. I can buy this movie was made as a response to the reception to the first film. But Warner is in too much debt to release a film of this budget wanting it to bomb. They just though hey Joker made money make a sequel to it, and let’s address the “issues” from the first movie

Hot take, but giving the joker an actual origin would be completely antithetical to his character. What kills a joke? Explaining the punchline. As a DC fan i dont want a joker origin not even in the comics. If any movie is made it should be about the archetype the joker represents. In the first film hes never called joker, we only see things that allude to the clown we all expect and want arthur to be. The audience like the thugs on the train see him as their perfect clown. If the movie was called Clown or Arthur nobody wouldve hyped it up, joker implicates to people dc, batman, but Todd wanted to flip the joke on the audience. I haven't seen the second film but im guessing it has similar themes. I wouldn't be suprised if its all in his head, like a dream. Thats my favorite punchline right there a good old twist

I think it was decent, but it could have been better had it cut some fat and added more to the story. I don't think it's a bad movie. It had a good ending. It just could've been so much better. EDIT: I think people were too hard on this film. It wasn't worth the theater trip, but I'm not disappointed I watched it. It was fine. Not every follow-up is going to be great. Also, they really shot themselves with the whole incel narrative not being true this time around. Quinn used Arthur. This movie was way more misogynistic than the first. They should have gone a different direction with it.

I didn't even watch the first one. This is the new trend nowadays where the authors spend time showing us the backstories of the villains. They always portray the villains like they were not like that in the beginning. They were like nice guys who lost their ways due to circumstances. Sure, let's do that. That's the "backstory." But it doesn't PARDON them to all the monstrosity and crimes they are doing and accumulating in the PRESENT. We're the audience. We have the luxury to witness the behind the scenes of these villains; however, the other characters that coexist in the same realm and timeline with the villains don't know the backstories like we do. If you're just a character, you'll see the villains are just villains doing villain things. Joker movie is not that impressive. His misfortune can be summarized in less than 2 minutes in a regular batman episode or if it's written in web comics, less than 8 panels. Blegh.

I find it baffling that certain people goes south to defend the movie. I love how they gaslight people by saying, "you don't get mental illness!", "you are literally the society!" They're doing this whole mental gymnastics and act like they're 'intellectuals' LOL. I have never seen people defending movies like Morbius, Madame Web, or any other failed DC or Marvel movies the way people did it with Joker
