You could have just looked up the specs. Clearly listed: Ventus is power limited in the BIOS, has a smaller cooler with older version fans, has no RGB, comes with a metal back plate, comes with a support bracket.

Finally a professional Ventus review, thank you! This reassured me that it's not the worst 3080 card, kind of middle of the pack. It's my favorite 3080 design, and I love that it doesn't have RGB for me to struggle to disable, so I specifically picked it as my pre-order. The OC version was actually ~$50 more expensive than MSRP though.

Tbh, this is the one of the "worst" RTX 3080's, mainly because of the low 320W powerlimit which limits the core clock to +/- 1920Mhz max.. Other than that it's fine and indeed middle of the road.. There really are no bad RTX 3080 videocards on the market which is only great for us consumers.. They are all good with good silent cooling and the only real differences being the powerlimit and design with RGB etc, so if you're not a serious overclocker and do not care about design and RGB you can basically buy any RTX 3080 available (read: go for the cheapest you can get).. In short, I agree with this videoreview..

Excellent review, my case wouldn't fit the larger card anyway, but I was curious if I'd lost out on any performance with choosing this card. With my last GPU, I actually pulled the RGB section off to fit a water cooler, so I got used to having no lights on the card, and I really don't see the need for dual bios, not for my use at least.

i kept looking at the specs in comparison charts and could not find much differences aside from marginal increases in clock speeds that arent needed for most games since the rtx 3080 is already a monster of a card to begin with. i like chilling without my headphones on a lot so that shockingly low decibel level is a big plus for me as well. That's one good looking tower case in the background, tried buying it but its too expensive for me. I went with a NZXT h510 but switching now to an Elite version. Im so looking forward to getting an RTX 3080 and this one is great for the simplicity, usability, and price. The hard part is just negotiating a good price point with today's inflation and demand going up.

I usually buy Gigabyte Aorus (mobo and last two cards) because that fits the style of my builds better (Plenty of RGB, full glass case). But with all the scalping going on with 3080's, I just can't get one without feeling I may need to sell a child especially trying to find a TI! I was looking at this one. I had an MSi 2070 SUPER Ventus OC. It was a top of the line card in performance and OC'ability. I Loved it. I skipped out on the MSi Ventus series for my 3080 because it is the same price as other AiB cards but no LED's or RGB. I got an EVGA 3080 XC3 ULTRA for the same price and it is gorgeous. It runs cool and performs awesome.

Since 9 out of 10 times I strip the card, looks, cooling, RGB are not important. I usually just check if power delivery is okay on the card and if there's a water block available for it. FE cards are always covered. Aftermarket cards can be an issue. Alphacool have blocks for the Ventus 30XX cards, so this card might make it into my next build.

my RTX 2070S runs at 69-71C under load, so the Ventus with more performance at 69C i can live with that, btw not a fan of RGB at all anyways ! short Question on the side, those this MSI Ventus 3X Card work "better" with an MSI Motherboard ?

I grabbed it because it was all that was in stock, but I am going to toss a waterblock on it as soon as it gets here. My only concern is that the power limit is only 100% so no power wiggle room, but there are some mods than can be done to get around that.

That was awesome! I really like the idea of this card as it fits in the NCase M1 deshrouded with a couple of noctua case fans under it pretty much perfectly. Also unlike the Asus RTX card you can run those case fans off of the GPU itself with an adapter so no separate fan controller needed. So it's really nice to hear that you're not losing too much performance here too :).

Great, on point video! This card isn't getting much coverage for some reason. I got it since it was the only one available of all 3080 models. Was wondering what you lose compared to the almost 200 euro more expensive 3080 cards. As I already assumed, nothing of real value. Also keep in mind, you can always tune the fan curve to your personal preference (noise vs temps), so who cares about default bios settings

You do lose a higher powerlimit which is required if you want to run a bit higher clockspeeds on a RTX 3080 to get a little bit more performance.. It's not a huge difference though, maybe 100Mhz max with the best overclocking high powerlimit models out there.. I have this MSI RTX 3080 Ventus 3x OC as well and on stock it runs into it's 320W powerlimit all the time making it clock down to under 1900Mhz even.. My suggestion to get most out of it is to undervolt it.. I have mine set to 1905Mhz with 906mV and it's stable in all games not running into the powerlimit.. The 3070 is a lower power chip, so if the heatsink is exactly the same, it should be even cooler/quieter.

@@aeiouxs I don't really care about the looks. I don't plan to vertical mount anytime soon.. The card is so basic but performs like a champ. My fan curve is setup so the card doesn't start spinning until 55c. I also setup a 850v undervolt with a 1880 boost clock. My card never exceeds 69c in any game. It's the right balance of price to performance. I really wanted fancy EVGA FTW3 Ultra but the Ventus is such an overachiever there's no need to look elsewhere.

Hi guys, I just got this card. What are your idle temps? I have everything stock and the zero fan option set in Dragon. But my fans never turn off like my 3070 did and my idle temps vary from 53-58c. I benchmarked using 3d Mark and it maxed at 71 degrees. Good, bad, normal?

Thanks for the review...... You helped make up my mind, didn't really did not want a new power hungry 4000 series card. The Ventus is paired with a AMD 5800X and this is a great pairing. Using a 1400P g-sync monitor and ULTRA settings is so nice. Smart access memory is turned on,which helps the GPU PCIE Rx on the card reaches near 8GB a second in some games. Some games (Metro Exodus with all the bells and whistles turned on) needed to be limited to 120 FPS or it would hang. I installed 'Fan Control V131' and my card never reaches 70 C.... It hits 1995 MHz in most games thanks to the cooling curve I use.... Thanks very much for the review.....😁

Got mine for $560 used with tax&ship, almost new condition, very happy. I replaced the thermal pads with Kritical pads and the paste with thermal grizzly kryonaut extreme and it never hit 60c at 100% usage, also de-shrouded using a bracket kit from ETSY(Osserva) so have 2 almost silent Noctua's cooling.

Undervolting should be mentioned. I have this card for a month now. It's okay, but undervolted, it's great ! Better performances than stock (the boosting of Nvidia isn't stable nor efficient AT ALL): clocked at 1850Mhz at max 818mV (instead of >1050mV) makes the card runs 5-7°C less, consume maximum 250W for same performances (I'm not even lying here).

I can confirm this. I’ve ran 1850Mhz at 850mV amd temps are lower by 4-5 C for me. No fps differences noticeable at all and power consumption is significantly lower. At stock, temps are generally higher than I’d like 74-78 C at full load everything ultra on warzone, but its low 70s undervolted

I went with 'Fan Control V131.' You can fiddle with all your fans that way. 😁 GPU never goes over 69 degrees C and it hits 1995 MHz at 319 Watts.....

3 years later I had to rewatch this video to learn whether Ventus fans were silent or not compared to Gaming X ones since I couldn't find an answer anywhere else and now I know which gives me a huge relief making think seriously of purchasing one over the Gaming X, obviously it won't a 3080 but either a 3060 or a 4060. I had to underclock my 3080 Ventus because my games would crash if the boost speed got too high, but I imagine this will be ironed out with driver updates. Otherwise this particular card seems to be the best value per dollar out of all the 3080s.

@@lilComm1e It's been working fine for the past year with keeping it underclocked, so I just haven't bothered trying to let it run normally. Maybe I'll experiment with that soon.

I got a PNY 3080 in a prebuilt and it runs up to 1995 MHz with no boosting from me. With just a slight bump from Afterburner (105%) it plays happily at around 2.2 Ghz. It's paired with a 3700X. I love my 1080p overkill...it's just plugged into my 43 inch TV.

I was lucky enough to snag an RTX 3070 VENTUS X2 OC (because nothing else was available). It is also supposed to be the 'cheap' model and I couldn't be happier. It really feels well built and looks good. I dont care about overclocking or RGB and the gaming performance (which is all I care about) is very good.

This card is nearly $1100 MSRP at Best Buy currently. I'm looking at reviews because this is the version of the rtx 3080 that was in my prebuilt Trident X SFF case.

Good comparison and a nice card. Ventus and Tuf look like a great buy, if they ever come in stock. p.s. Picture for Ventus vs Trio at 6:25 says 3070 for both cards in the bottom.
