A million times this!! After nearly two decades of professional makeup and a constant influx of more makeup releases that I knew what to do with professionally and on my one face, it's taken a global pandemic for me to realise exactly this. The waste, unnecessary spending and overwhelm, it's not the one. Most of my kit went out of date so I cleared out, used stuff I already had on myself when I wore it and it was freeing! Both my kit and personal makeup now contain tried and trues that get me the result I want and that I enjoy using. I automatically check I have nothing that could do a similar/ same job now and anything I do buy I'm actually excited about again. Completely agree with the not just makeup too, de-influencing and conscious consuming is something all areas of our lives can benefit from imo. Brilliant video! 👏🏻

I’m SO happy I came across this video as I was watching Merit reviews. Definitely snapped me out of the “need” to buy new makeup. The draw of a super natural looking makeup brand gets me every time. The reminder that these things already exist and that this brand isn’t inventing this kind of makeup is much needed for me. Thank you!!!

Glad you made this! Yes packing does play a part in the experience or we wouldn’t keep buying. I literally have every cream blush possible! There called lipsticks😂 in dewy/ long wear/ pink/ purple/ peach you name it.

Yes! I love that primark foundation stick! I picked it up on a breakaway and was so surprised by how good it is. Also, if peeps have anything else like the bare minerals stick or any creamy concealer really it will practically give the same result blended with a nice primer or oil or moisturiser. Thanks for keeping it real for us! Unless of course people fancy a treat and feeling flush , that’s cool too! Xx

Think it's definitely the luxe feel, very much like Westmen atelier meets Victoria Beckham, but every brand is trying for the no makeup makeup and if its really no makeup makeup, why should that cost us a kidney 🤣 the lipsticks however, you could convince me, don't know what it is about a high end "treat" lipstick, always draws me in

I haven't even heard of Merit🤔where the heck have I been?!? I have to agree with your "you probably don't need whatever it is you want to buy today"comment, that is so true. I always tend to buy when I'm feeling down, like today I'm thinking that new blush will make me look prettier etc...sad isn't it and I never used to be like that, which is odd, you'd think I'd have been like that more when I was younger but I'm actually worse in my 40's!🤷🏼‍♀️

I use the Primark stick foundation after swimming. I put a bit of Pur 4-in-1 powder foundation over the top of it which stops it shining too much.

I’ve never heard of Merit before your vlog the other day. Is it a UK brand? Obviously each to their own, but for me personally I don’t think I would spend “high end” money on makeup that’s designed to look like I’m not wearing any to begin with. Totally with you on the shopping thing. I’ve started making lists of my “wants” so when I’m at the shops or online I know what I’ve been thinking about and to keep myself in check (ie. you don’t need this/it’s not on the list). I also find it’s helpful because if somethings been on their for a while I tend to cross it out - I either haven’t found one I am willing to spend money on or I don’t remember why I thought I needed it in the first place.

I'm so glad you made this video. I've been eyeballing Merit Beauty for awhile now. I love the aesthetic and the simple, minimal look of everything, That being said, I'm not a minimal makeup kind of person. I'm very fair ...unless you count my dark undereye circles. My hair, brows and lashes are blonde and my eyes are light. Basically, I don't need a no-makeup makeup look. PLUS it is pricey. I'm not going to say never,lol, you never know but for now...I'm good???

For some strange reason, probably my age.. Ive found my usual Boots no7 foundation looks caked on now, almost as if the formula has changed. It's annoying because I bought three for two again. I'm still looking for that holy grail of BB/CC tinted moisturiser with some good coverage. And then using concealer, under eye concealer to cover any redness. I've just recently purchased a Bobbi Brown concealer corrector stick. In a shade that I can use on my face. I already had the little compact corrector in a lighter shade, light bisque. I haven't had chance to experiment with the new bullet concealer corrector in a warmer shade, yet.I know the secret is to get the base perfect.Cleansed and exfoliated and hydrated.I do all that and more.But it's no longer creating the perfect canvas.I once had a foundation stick from Bobbi Brown, but it felt greasy on.

Have you tried the no 7 bb cream, that's quite good. I also like wet n wild tinted hydrator. I'm 66 with normal skin

i might just try the foundation but with a mattifying primer on my nose and chin cause i do like the look of it but I got a very VERY oily nose... and I do catch myself hording makeup but I always try to think if I really like it or just want it...... she says while having 7 red lipsticks she never wears hahahaha

I immediately knew Merit was gonna be a hard pass for me from the first advert I ever saw for it. Even though my skin has gotten slightly drier with age, I have never gotten along with cream products. I am liking lighter coverage these days but I'm still oily enough that I want a liquid something that sets, followed by powder products that give me control of colour saturation without feeling like it's going to move around. A whole face of cream products with no powder is my idea of hell. The whole concept of the exclusive, hyper-luxe, no make-up make-up thing Merit is selling kind of made me lol and seemed like the sort of thing Gwyneth Paltrow would come up with; a £40 foundation stick that's invisible and a £60 bone broth that's pretending to be food 😂
