He believe he doesn't have to follow the law. Just everyone else has too. The federal government needs a law to revoke the peace officer certificate from these types of law enforcement officers. Whether to enforce a law or not is not at the discretion of a police officer. It is a Constitutional violation that is a federal crime under 2 different federal laws. He can be sentenced to prison for willfully denying a person the benefit of the law. He just stated this in front of members of Congress because he is not afraid that he will be arrested or punished in anyway for refusing to uphold the law. So a federal law stripping these bad actors of the ability to be law enforcement officers is needed. I support a 5 year mandatory minimum sentence for betraying the public trust. No judicial release, no expungements. He is admitting to be a traitor.
