I love to see the interactions with your children. You provide rules and boundaries while allowing them to be their own unique selves. You obviously enjoy them and have relationships with each one and you give direction and instruction with kindness and patience. I’m sure you have moments….but such a blessing to watch the kids develop and grow in such a loving environment. You and Rebecca are lights in the world.

There is no doubt in my mind that farming, living off the land, is very hard work. But this family is so dedicated to it and to each other, it is sustained by love. It was great to see Jonah back to doing work outside. And wasn't it great to see Gideon helping with the milking. Yes, three meals together as a family every day is a very worthwhile goal.😊💖

Justin, totally agree with what I think you are really saying here. The family will remember and appreciate the three meals together far more than production. We have to be generally productive, but that is so we can enjoy those meals with the family. Productivity for its own sake is empty.

Jonah, remember your restrictions. No Crossing your legs,Twisting , bending past 90 degrees. That includes while you a seated. Before you know it you will have no restrictions. Keep up the fantastic job. You are doing great!

I was wondering if he was doing too much of the wrong things. They said when he left the hospital about having restrictions for 4 weeks. I know he is anxious to get back to farm work but he needs to have thus heal correctly or he will have a life he doesn't want.

Jonah is doing amazingly good.. My friends who have had hip replacement said he would be up and moving quickly.. They are all over 70 years old & their recovery was fast. They couldn't believe just how fast! When I told them about Jonah, they heard about the updates And asked if I didn't say anything. I work in a retirement home so they know he's 15 & know his story about the motorcycle accident. Plus, they know about your farm. I like to bring them into my life, and they enjoy my cat & dog stories and are interested in what I am up to. No one liked the maggot bucket for the chicken's LOL I wonder why! 😅 🙋🏼‍♀️🐈🐕🌞

Rotational grazing is absolutely the way to manage your land! It is really helpful if you put your water source in the middle and then make your fencing start there and go out into a pie shape of a pasture. From overhead the pastures would look like a pie with the water in the middle! The watering of your livestock is so much easier with just one water tank!

I always wanted to try that for chickens, put the coup in the center of the pie and have them run 1 segment each week, in a non stop "wheel of fortune " type deal

This is the struggle that I feel. It’s in the kitchen....and it’s less the making of the food but the mess from making the food. Thank you for showing the real...because sometimes homesteading or farming can be romanticized and the real is a very important part to share. 💕

@Miguel195211 SPOT ON, or letting your 2 year old son hold a sparkler in his hand 😬🙄🤯🧐😦, when I saw that on video 11 days ago , I was shocked and horrified he would even let a toddler do that 😳, even my dad agrees, not to be mean but they're not responsible parents that's a good way for his kid/toddler to have his hand blown off, or even worse get burned from it on his head or hand, OML 🤦‍♂, and if i were him i'd take that video down before CPS sees it, cause then he could lose custody of his kids, he's basically putting himself at risk by now, i'm glad to have parents who care for my safety, unlike these, who let their kids do WHATEVER THEY WANT, I may get mad at my parents for not letting me run outside at night, but i'm glad they're doing it for my safety

It's amazing to me how your kids willingly pitch in and do a LOT of the chores. And Lilly (Lilli?)!!! She can cook anything at such a young age! My 2 girls were so spoiled. Our fault lol. Turned out to be great adults and both are great cooks tho but they got by too easy growing up.

Rotational grazing is something we in CA can only dream of. We’re in a brittle environment. No benefit of summer rain, watering pastures isn’t feasible/or a possibility

I'm still not convinced of the moving of electric fence as opposed to building paddocks is as efficient. Paddocks are permanent with minimal maintenance, if a person is consistent with repairs. Seems like you all are always chasing animals, moving fences, buying new fences, cutting path for fence to be setup and chasing animals. It would still be allow paddocks to re-fresh and grow new grass, clover, etc if you rotate. Wooden fences with gates between, move livestock around. It can be the same rotation without all the work. JMHO. Still learning. Oh yeah, did I mention chasing animals.

You should shovel out out the compost that the pigs and cows made and put it in your experimental garden that way the bugs and chickens will loosen up the soil underneath the compost and next year you do not have to worry about how to ground is too hard to shovel through and most of the plants that you grow in it are smaller in size compared to other areas in your farm

My friend was a pig farmer. He said to move pigs easier you put a bucket over their head and back them where you want them to go. I’ve seen him do that with even the biggest boar with a trash can. Apparently if they can’t see they go where they are pushed.

shouldn't the pressure reg come right after the main storage tank? install a filter, downward pointed drain after filter and before press reg and you can dump the silt out easily
