Just picked mine up this week and agree with you on the delay when pulling away from standstill but great on everything else. It is packed with technology and you get use to not having physical button’s, you can create shortcuts. On the car itself I think it’s sufficiently different and I found it does turn heads. I don’t agree with comments on some channels that it looks like a Suzuki Swift.

@ I do like the X1 and agree it’s a tough call but in the end I decided on the Countryman JCW simply because I happen to see less of them accepting that it is a mass produced car so it’s never going to be unique.

Countryman JCW is more practical than a Golf R and also cheaper.. at least in Europe. Unique design and it has some really nice options too!

I may consider this and trade in my Golf R 7.5 DSG. This looks like a lot of fun. The Golf R is a great car. But looking for something different with a little bit more flavor.

As a F66 Cooper owner, I watched your review with interest… The JCW Countryman is overpriced (here in the UK & elsewhere). However, when you compare it with a similarly-equipped BMW X1 (more or less the same car), then it starts to look like better value! Car prices have risen exponentially - this isn't just a US $ issue. Two other quick points; the 7-speed DCT in my car doesn't exhibit the same 'slow take-off' issue that you experienced… and I strongly disagree with your comments about the MIU (Central Display) / OS9. I find the built-in SatNav to be excellent (and I have tested it against Android Auto). Also, I've been told that a future OTA update will deliver full-screen CarPlay / Android Auto… for those that prefer to use 3rd-party apps. You're not the only car-test driver on KZbin to have demonstrated their unfamiliarity with this new MIU / OS9 combination, and it seems that most of you are using 'Guest' mode (instead of a dedicated user profile) - and this makes a difference. After 6 months / 5k miles with my F66, I am totally satisfied with everything about the car. In addition, the staff I know at my BMW / MINI dealership are all of the opinion that OS9 is much easier to use in a MINI - and it looks even better than it does on a top-line BMW!!

How fast fun is it. It’s last on my list to get another mini because I don’t love the inside but the power seems jcw is the only way to go. I wouldn’t get a base model mini

Completely agree. I got my JCW a month ago and am very happy with it. But not really impressed with the infotainment. It is to me a bit complicated, sometimes it doesn't recognizes my profile/ mobile phone as a key, etc. I love the car, power, design and even the screen but the functions, climate control regulations, not my thing...

There is not an average sedan on the market today that is actually worth $52,000 and certainly not a Mini. That is the result of debasement of your dollar in action.
