Royce da 5'9": “You Gon Learn” was actually a song that I had for my album. I went in from where I was at with the album at that time and I played some of the songs that I had for him and he really messed with that one. I can’t exactly remember how it happened, but I remember telling him, “You can have it if you want it? Don’t get it twisted. What’s mine is yours? You’re still my good friend.” I gave it to him and he did his magic to it. He added instruments to it, he added his shit to it, murdered it and that’s how the blessing happened. Mad respect. “Try hardness?” So what “they” ARE feeling today is a bunch of of mumble rap low IQ stupidity that brainwashes young people of color to make bad decisions and f**k up their lives? But they hard tho huh? No, they wannabe gangstas who are a sad representation of our people. White folks laugh at us while we act “hard” and destroy our people generation after generation. The fact that you would post this with confidence tells a lot, “no one is feeling that” lol no one is “hard” in America either. Try a third world country. The fact that Em says “never sold dope for no gold rope” is so important because it’s been 40 years of our black folk selling dope to each other for shiny trinkets from corporate America. The last line flew over my head all these years. Eminem ends on such a doozy: He says "Kick" and "Snare" on the opposite measures (flipped) where the normal kick and snare from the drum track would normally be expected, and he references it in conjunction with the uselessness of dissing someone who is so offbeat they don't even understand the difference between the two. He used this clever and "confused" syncopation as a lyrical and temporal vehicle to end on. If you pay attention you can hear him pause a half a measure to set the whole thing up. No wonder he's a Rap God. He alters TIME itself.

Yo, forreal tho! That bar has so many references and so many layers. He killed the lyricism in this song.
@asp13464 жыл бұрын
@Rad K Not only that. "I'm a god to you" refers to Rap God. "Y'all better worship the water I walk on" has two meanings. Firstly, since he is a God, he makes reference to the fact that he can "walk on water", and secondly, he's also poking at critics of the song "Walk on Water" with Beyonce - perhaps saying that the song is more important than the public let on. Also, and maybe this is stretching it - the whole "worship the ground/water/air I breathe/walk" has been a motif in many Eminem songs.

Royce is so fucking underrated. And he produced the track? 🤯
@definingkr33d4 жыл бұрын
See, I don't understand how he can rap (on the same album no less) those fire wifey lines, and then on other songs, talk about women that he's having sex with. I get that it's just rap, but it really takes away from his credibility as a rapper in my opinion. He's very talented as far as lyricism, don't get me wrong, but these contradicting ideas make him seem a bit fake to me.
@firststep76824 жыл бұрын
@@definingkr33d Two tattoos, one read "no apologies", the other said "love is cursed my monogamy"... lmao. For real though, could be a multitude of reasons that don't involve a contradiction. Maybe he's in an open relationship, maybe he's rapping about a mix of past and current experiences, maybe he cheats on his significant other and is just transparent about it in his music. Maybe his partnership isn't predicated on sexuality but instead on supporting each other, fuck man I don't know. In either case, rap is fictionalized, even when it's predicated on real events, it's still exaggerated and put into a consumable format. It's typically a person relaying an idea or a story that they created, heard, or experienced, but it's always through their lens and I'm sure if you asked a non-biased third party they would have a slightly different telling of events. Just find shit that resonates and don't worry about the realness.

Sightless Sniper Yeah, I tend to ignore all that bullshit such as conspiracy theories. I just focus on wordplay, rhyme schemes, punchlines, flow, cadence delivery and any type of literary device. Take what’s important and throw away the bullshit... I actually don’t really like much after the “alcoholistic infamy” line. I liked the delivery, flow and cadence of the lines, but the the subject matter is too “woe me”/“victim mentality” for me.

@@EclecticEuphoriaEE lol man I was just talking with an artist I work with last night about this and how growing up and dreaming of making music for a living we both wanted to be just like our idles for the longest time but as I’m growing into this life of making music, finding yourself, finding the style that fits and matches you, you’re personality, your delivery, your speed, your drive, etc…… those are the defining factors of what pulled me into it in the first place. The reasons we see all of these major artists and are in Awgh of them is because they have worked very hard for very a long time to know exactly who they are and how to explain who they are to the public and do so comfortably. That’s what’s in them that makes us think we want to be just like them but really you’re exactly right, the key is to strive and work hard to learn who I am and who I want to be and what I want to do and master it with joy because I found it. Ive learned it the hard way too so far, by that I mean by being frustrated and depressed cause I haven’t made it in life yet and actually letting that influence some of the songs I’ve released, delivering sounds of depression and anxiety out into the world. Nobody wants to hear that shit, so man has it been bumpy yessir and it will continue to be bumpy at times but I’ve been seriously writing since I was 10 years old and I love it! I would kill for it and die for it. Thanks for the good vibes Brodie and God bless you man!
