I like drawing backgrounds more than i like drawing the characters on the background after i finish'em. It's irritating, i spend you're time detailing the place to create an atmosphere, and then you have to cover half of it with people... Sad, sad story. Maybe i don't have the right to give advice but here something i learned over the years. Practice and Studing is the answer. Just like calculus, literature, a sport, etc Art is a skill that you must learn by drawing everyday. But make sure to draw challenges yourself. Draw something you bad at somedays and other time draw what you absolutely love. Also make sure to study. draw from your imagination or copy from a reference or draw from real life sometimes. make sure to study seeing how you will represent a object. Than see hlw other people did it.You need to train to see the world as artist and not as a non artist. You might have to look that point up for it to make sense. you might like a math class go read a textbook about art and do homework/practice what it says. Like reading about composition or how to draw stairs than practice. Of course art can be abstract so you might not like that certain way the text told you to do. It okay to not added it to your skills set but just practicing it once can still help you learn. So summarize dont be afraid to try new things and keep drawing. If you don't feel like drawing go read a book about drawing or watch a youtube video. In end you must train your muscles and mind to draw. Keep learning and practicing.

My favorite backgrounds would be Konoha from Naruto, the Moon Kingdom from Sailor Moon, the Seireitei from Bleach and the Spirit World from Yu Yu Hakusho, to name a few. They hold a lot history within these series and the design is amazing. Which is why I picked these but there are more.

Backgrounds suck to draw, BUT they just look so good when they’re done~ ugh! Backgrounds take so long though and then you have to cover up the hard work sometimes with the characters. Not to mention, when I try to draw characters in dynamic poses, drawing the background from certain angles gets really confusing.

I know growing up you were a fan of Tite Kubo and his series Bleach. Bleach had amazing backgrounds when the Manga first started, but sometime after Aizens defeat Kubo started drawing much more bleak and bland backgrounds, this along with the decrease in overall content, lead to the fall of the series.

Your values are really muddy, you imply variation in form where there shouldn't be, you should practice more in black n white painting really simple forms colorless blocks are my favorite, you cannot escape practicing fundamentals, really really define your edges. EDGES, EDGES, EDGES, are my biggest complaint about your piece, edges are the only difference between a cloud and a bush, they tell you how something feels, all your edges are soft for some reason I have no Idea why, makes everything look like it's made of this weird amorphic clay structure they are the thing that is the biggest tell in amateurish art, especially when your working with cell styled drawing, you never graduate from the fundamentals, make bloc they're boring but they are pivotal, regularly daily every day, making blocks, rotating them around, and arranging them to create scenes. Then when you feel like you are good enough ask someone who you think is good on someplace like artstation to rip apart your best shit. noone decent, doesnt have a story where they thought they were good but then someone who they admired told them they haven't even started, they are make, or break moments, the ones who can actually take legitimate criticism, will make it. but most people don't.luckily you made it provable. If you don't believe me, take that picture at 12:27 show it to people, tell them you made both and ask them which they think is better, if you knew what you were doing that painting shouldn't stand a chance against yours, yours is a much more dramatic angle the draftsmanship in yours is maybe slightly better, more interesting composition, and you have a more interesting design. most people will pick the other, despite the artist probably spending barely any time on it. compared to the amount of detail and work you put in yours. If you keep going the way you are, you'll do much more work than you have to for not much of any result.

I'd honestly just go on google and type in "Sigils" or "doctor strange magic" or "sacred geometry" and study the stuff you see there. There's no really trick to it. It's just detailed circles with various symbols(real or fake) inside of them. Copy the things you see and practice them multiple times. Repetition is how you get good at things.
