Small bit of advice: Drink a bottle of lukewarm/warm water when speaking in front of a class. Cold water, though refreshing, tightens up the vocal chords and can put an unnecessary strain on your voice.

As a screenwriting student was an EXCELLENT lecture and I really learned a lot. Thank you so much :-)! I do have a question regarding conflicts, stakes and obstacles: In the movie "Once" and "Heaven is For Real"... maybe it was just me, but it didn't really seem like there were any real stakes or obstacles for the characters. Well, in "Once", there was a scene where that girl walked out on him because the guy said something that offended her, but then he apologized and she was like, "cool", and for the rest of the move, it seemed like they were having a good time.

GiGi New Thanks so much for the response and congrats on the television show and the producer!!! I am writing and doing some on set duties for a small, independent series. That being said, I am relatively new to script writing. So your videos could be quite helpful. I will visit your site and spread the word to the other writers on staff. Thanks again for reaching out! Best to you, Mike

Thanks Mike! Spreading the word is fantastic. Just to note - the teasers of each trailer is only a portion of the the specific video. People can view them in their entirety along with podcasts with industry professionals for either a monthly or annual fee... that can be discontinued at any time. All of my best, GiGi

i DON'T UNDERSTAND!! Each of my episodes is gonna be 40min- an hour and I have around 20 episodes. When you started this workshop did you just assume we were all writing for the purpose of selling to a a third party for a feature film production? Why would I give creative control away since I can film this tv show without a budget since I own the cameras and my actors work currently without pay in contractual syndication?

Martez Warren I think you mean "Outline" and that is the whole idea of your story (where does it start and where is it going to end and how did you get there, but in a nonspecific manner) maybe not 30 pages long as she said but more like 10 tops

Aussiness74 isn't very bright, but very rude. Gigi New does a great job providing useful information for aspiring screenwriters. If you have one ounce of brain matter, you can write a great screenplay using her style.

Outlines are not necessary for everyone. This all-or-nothing thinking is outdated and detrimental to the creative process. Don't listen to her.

It's not a good presentation. She looks unprepared altough it's filmed. Even if she has notes in her laptop, she should practice how to present herself more. Asking the audience what they know is pointles and she starts almost every sentence like that...

@aussiness7410 жыл бұрын
DIdn't she write The Ortegas (2003- ) The show was canceled before it even aired. If she thinks this much of herself that a successful writer comes to her for advice.......I doubt it. Her Lecture is slow, over thought,as would be the outcome if using her method. I wish the lady well and those following this method, will need it.
