One thing I have gained so much encouragement from was Edith Schaefer's The Hidden Art of Homemaking, where she shares how we are all artists and creators, and that just because we are homemakers we don't have to give up our creativity. She highlights how we each have different gifting and can use them to bless our children and families in the areas we are gifted in and we don't all have to be the same! This is like the "love languages" you are talking about. We can't all be the ultimate homesteader homemaker homeschooler -fill in your favorite aspiration- but we can be really good at one thing. My mom's one big thing was making holidays special...she didn't do crazy pinterest stories, but I knew we'd always have homemade valentine on Valentines Day, and wed have oranges and candy on St. Nick day etc.They were days she remembered and made special even though she was working night shifts and 2 jobs and barely making it by.

Also, "reckless regard for family planning" love that as mama of 7, i mean we call it trusting God for our family, but that's a hilarious description and my new response when people make nasty comments about the size of our family ;)

So true!!! I started taekwondo with my children as a way of bonding with them and getting into shape. Now I’m a regular with them and have more friends at taekwondo than anywhere else. Jen, you nailed it with your points 💯 again!!

Jen, I keep sharing your podcasts with my daughter but she’s a mom of 9 and just doesn’t have time to listen to all your encouraging information. She could totally relate to all of the stuff you’re saying. So I have to share bits and pieces with her in our ‘bits and pieces’ conversations.

Yes Jen! Willpower is wildly overrated. Motivation has to be tied to more than willpower. Action typically comes before motivation, but we definitely can't rely on willpower to keep on track to reach the goals we set.
