Jimmy G came up short in that system. Trey Lance was a bust in that system. But Brock is just a *system QB*? Pssshhhh c'mon now. He's a great QB doing what he's tasked to do in a complex offensive system. And dude is in his SECOND SEASON. The ceiling is sky high for that guy!

@@BloodlustLlama Yeah, I hate chopping Jimmy down because he was solid for the most part but the difference between him and Purdy are night and day.. It's blatantly obvious to any 49er fan that actually watched all the games.. It's like talking about Lamar Jackson's lack of a Superbowl thus far (likely to change in a few days) and bringing up how Trent Dilfer not only made a SB but also won it. The grey area there is MASSIVE to say the least and that's most critics, they talk about most things like there's only black and white and no inbetween.. Hell, the hilariously awful Keyshawn just a few days ago backed up Love's poor performance by saying he's a young QB and will learn and get better while trashing Purdy who has less them half the experience haha.. It's all about ratings/clicks for most of the mainstream media versus actual well thought out arguments/break downs that take much more effort and work but wont get nearly as much attention as selling out and just spewing random over the top things here and there. Thankfully there's still some people that do great breakdowns but you have to actually look for them.

The sports talking heads are just straight up toxic, shock jocks that people listen to because they agree with their over the top takes or they get pissed off by it. If and when the 49ers win the SuperBowl that crackhead Nick Wright will discount it by saying it should have an asterisk because Purdy threw a should have been interception the first quarter of the Packers game. In the end it doesn’t matter what people say. It’s sad that only a very small percentage of these guys on TV are not about the hot takes and don’t jump to absurd negative takes all the time

I honestly think the talking heads look around and think this. We're talking about Purdy, The whole freaking season. He's being the talk of the NFL. He is the subject. Every single week, playing good or bad, against good or bad teams... They talk about him. You know who's drafted later than him and was not talked as much? Baker. Goff. Lamar. Fields. Mac Jones. We still look as guys like Fields and Mac and Trey Lance and think "oh, that guy can still learn and become a good QB". Love is in his 4th NFL season and was seen as being more inexperienced than Purdy, as if he was almost a rookie. At best they were being seen as at the same experience level/age. Purdy is at his 1st full season and HE IS THE GUY. He is The Talk. Every single show that touches on the NFL talks about him. Doesn't matter if he's playing the commanders at 2pm among half dozen other games or if he's at the MNF. People asked Goff how long does he think QBs should have patience from teams. He said 3-4 years. This guy is less than 30 games in. Not a single soul questions if he's ready or thinks "hey, next season he'll get better, he's so green..." I honestly think there's at least 25 teams/GMs/coaches very pissed about how they didn't saw him and didn't get him. "These 49ers, lucky bastards..." lmao

One thing people tend to forget about with Purdy was that he had a really good rookie preseason. 49ers 100% planned on him being a practice squad qb last year, but after that preseason, they knew a team would pick him up for themselves. He had the most dominant car in F1 history so everyone said “it’s just the car”, but it doesn’t drive itself, and Max was almost flawless on the whole season. The offensive setup of the 49ers is about like what Tampa gave Tom Brady, a lot of good pass catchers. Brock Purdy has become a great distributer of the football. His work happens in the mind, reading the defense and placing the ball in the best position for success. Not to mention threading tight passes to his receivers very well. He might not be big, or fast, or have a cannon for an arm, but neither did the man people call the greatest quarterback to ever play the game. Brady looked like a couch potato out of college, and never attained any great physical shape, but his mind for the game made all of that.... irrelevant. Not going to say Purdy is the next Brady, just saying that it doesn't always take a physical phenom to reach the pinnacle of success at quarterback. Trey Lance didn't have Purdy's success with the same team, winning what was it his first 16 games or something? The ball starts in his hands in every offensive play, acting like he's a side effect is just being a hater. I'm a Bengals fan, so you know who my guy is. I just won't act like many Chiefs fans do and think because my guy is great, no one else's guy can be great too. Ball out young man, ball out.

@@healthyb-fu5zd Lamar has Lamar. He's a different animal. All high draft picks are to an extent. You have to pay them 1st round money, and that means you can't pay for other help. They only have to pay Purdy irrelevant money until he proves he's worth more. Hard to do on a team that went deep in the playoffs with Jimmy Garropollo. Look at what Brady had to work with once he made it and they had to pay him. He didn't have a Randy Moss, or a McCaffrey, or Deebo. When you have to spend a lot somewhere, you can't spend it all anywhere else. Lamar will get more help now that they have his deal worked out. He picked the draft pick he wanted in Zay Flowers, that's a start. Next year they'll have more money to bring in more talent to help him. Purdy probably makes 300k a year without bonuses for performance, that leaves a lot of money to put into other spots.

A guy like Allen or Jackson is very good at option 1, using own skill, Purdy is exceptional at using his teammates. I mean ofcourse he’s got a good team around him. I can't help but wonder what Bill Walsh would have thought of Brock Purdy. You know, the thing that Walsh saw in Joe Montana first and foremost was Joe's footwork. When Walsh saw Montana drop back while scouting him, the 49ers' coach was quoted as saying, "Oh, I think we have something here." Montana was very fluid, very mobile. Brock Purdy isn't quite that type of mobile player, but he comes closer that anyone since Montana retired. Purdy does it while processing the play at a very high level. Before Montana came along, the 49ers had a pretty good QB in Steve DeBerg. Just couldn't get the team to the next level. Then Joe came along and took the team to where they wanted to go. 40 something years later, Jimmy G. was playing good but just couldn't stay on the field long enough to get the 49ers where they wanted to go. Ditto for Lance. Here comes Brock Purdy and makes everyone forget about the other QBs. Somewhere beyond this realm, Bill Walsh must be smiling.

Every team in the NFL is gonna wanna find a Brock Purdy in this upcoming draft. Purdy is a throwback QB who is playing the wrong era of football. If this was early 2000 , Brocky would get praised ,but because today’s NFL is different, and you have super athletic QBs, Purdy won’t get that praise or respect just cause how QB position has changed in this era . Ppl want a big strong arm QB. Purdy can prove that you need a big arm big body QB. Not to mention , dude is sneaky athletic .

EVERY legendary QB has had weapons. You, as a QB, STILL have to make plays to those weapons regardless of who you are, and he has done ALL of that and more, yet he catches more flak than a dude who was supposed to be good and ended up doing nothing. It’s unprecedented and unfathomable as to why a guy who has done so well but continues to be torn apart. Keep it up, Brock!! You deserve all the praise that you’re not getting.

In the penultimate play of the game-winning drive against the Packer, on a second and ten, Purdy did not like what he saw and decided to scramble to his left, which is the harder side for a right hander to throw on the run from, the Green Bay Defence gave his ability so much respect for his ability to throw on the run, that they left a soft zone where he could pick up a nine yards to set up a third and short. It matters not what the pundits think, the Green Bay Coaches and Defence, knew how dangerous Brock is in an open field, so they chose giving up a long gain over leaving one on ones.

Brock Purdy has been so good so fast that we forgot he earned a starting qb job on one of the best teams in the NFL after filling in as a backup for less than half of a season. He's already elevated himself to the level of being compared to the great qb's of today while still being relatively new and learning

I’ve always told people this year has been different because our main priority hasn’t been to run the football and get yards. (CMC still did that even with the passing scheme) Kyle trusts Brock enough to sit back and throw the ball instead of just relying on the run which has cost us a few games, but still. That level of trust was never there with Jimmy, and you can see the whole team believes in Brock…

49ers honestly just got lucky that Jordan Love threw an interception, cause green bay out played the 49ers, and without CMC 49ers aren't the #1 team, so I guess idk why everyone is making a big deal outta this guy, he has a good week, and then throws 3-4 ints the next, so to me he's not at the level that everyone keeps saying he is, everyone thinks he's Aaron Rodgers, or Tom Brady, I ain't gonna say Mahomes cause him and Josh Allen both have thrown so many ints, but I don't think he's as good as everyone claims

You talk like he throws 3-4 interceptions on the regular, which means your talking out of the wrong orifice - maybe go watch his games rather than coming up with numbers out of thin air. And we were not 'lucky' that Love threw a pick - that's what pressure does to a young QB with no experience in the big pressure situations of do or die NOW!

@@tomwiedemeier4406 Could make the same argument with Brady for Evans and AB and the O-Line they had. Pretty much every elite QB that gets to the Superbowl has at least one Elite offensive or an Elite Defensive unit, a QB by themselves is not getting anywhere - look at Mahomes through this season he looked pretty ordinary because his teammate's were not pulling their weight, didn't see anyone giving him stick for that though (rightly so) but for some reason Purdy gets crucified whenever the team doesn't show for him which isn't very often but it has happened a few games this year. It's like the Op saying he throws 3-4 picks every few weeks, obviously no research went into that comment as Purdy has thrown less picks than Allen, Mahomes, Goff and Love but none of those guys are being called out as bad QBs this year - it's just the talking head narrative that people just believe to be true because we all know everything on film must be true right? 😱😂
