They wanted to alter your letter to make you look stupid because they were intimidated by your writing skills in other words.

Having to write counseling packets, awards, and letters was the dumbest shit I ever had to do when I was in the military. Like seriously, 90% of fellow NCO's had shit land nav skills, had shit PT scores, shit marksmanship, pussies on deployments, yet at the end of the day, your career is defined by how well you write the way the Army wants you to LMAO.

If youre over 25 id say its late to join. There is a reason why 18 year olds are the prime ppl wanted. After that your brain starts maturing and start questioning things especially if youve never been in and watch these wars from the sidelines as its all just politics.

I'm just a civilian, but I understand what you feel. That being said, maybe it wasn't necessarily your writing skills. What if they edited your letter to make it more appealing to the commander? They could have been trying helping you receive permission for whatever it was you were applying for. That's just one possibility based on the information given.

Dumb down or adjust to Army writing style?
@souljatalkthepodcast83736 ай бұрын
Adjusting to army writing is one thing, but you shouldn’t try to re-word someone’s letter.
@CadetPolovitz6 ай бұрын
@@souljatalkthepodcast8373 maybe they're trying to adjust it to Army writing style, as well as to regulation, but they're not as educated so as to retain your nuance and vocabulary, so they change it into a poorly written letter that fits within what's required by the army.
@drezification6 ай бұрын
I believe this is completely misleading, what do you understand about military writing? Also it is important to understand who the letter/memo is intended for. You do understand military writing is its own thing, correct? It’s a whole regulation on it.

I had a really good LT, prior service support guy for group. I typed up a memo that BN S1 gave me the words to use to get a signed. He said that won’t work. I said how? They literally gave me the wording to use in the memo. Two days later, I finally got the memo signed. It went from three sentences to a page long. Everyone at BN laughed and obviously when submitted the LTC never even read it. Now I understand things in group may have been a little different, but still! Good times and I wouldn’t change it.. well maybe some of it lol

To give context, what did you want to do where your chain of command found it necessary for you to write a letter to your commander? Honestly, I think you need to focus more on your unit's mission and less about how your unit & commander make you feel. As a SSG, you are a role model for the junior Soldiers in your unit; if you constantly complain, what impact are you having on the morale of your unit? I get it, not all officers are great and you may not always agree with their decisions, however it's up to the NCO's to carry out the commander's intent and create an environment of motivation & discipline so Soldiers take initiative. Creating a culture of negativity will only make your Soldiers less focused on your mission; and good luck getting your Soldiers to care about the unit's mission or follow your lawful orders when you're complaining about trivial sh!t. Junior Soldiers pick up on everything! Good luck.

I dumb myself down to get 20yrs knocked out. Smartest move ever. Don't think I would have made it otherwise. Seen too many chiefs and wanna be's that went along with the politics ready to stick you..then they crash and burn. I kept my sanity and now 18yrs out I'm the smartest guy on my lake fishing. Hang in there my man..sounds like wisdom to me.

You don't 'dumb down', you adjust to your target audience. The way I'd give a block of instruction to a bunch of Privates is a whole lot different, giving that same block of instructions to a bunch of Field Grade Officers. If you type out a letter and sign it and someone alters it. I'd file a compliant or take them out back for some wall-to-wall counseling. Call people on their BS to keep them from thinking they are Gawd Almighty. It's the NCO's job to keep those pesky Officers in check.

The problem is now days people make more money in IT,Media,medical,politics and corporate higher ranks while the soldiers go out and ,waste their golden years for their country…it’s just not worth it to fight third world countries for no reason….i love Air Force,navy and army and ,I appreciate young men and women serving in the military…I just see things from different perspectives..in my opinion, when politicians wage wars and,retire with multimillionaire while the soldiers retire broke or average lower middle classes maybe worse homeless…that’s a problem for me …I’m actually questioning a lot of industries..

These wars are illegal wars. The U.S. military goes to foreign countries, topples their governments, put in zionist puppets like we have here in the states, kills millions of innocents and steals their resources. How could anyone be proud to serve in the U.S. military? The U.S. is the terrorist regime of the world.

One thing people do not understand is that every job out there the Military has whether Lawyer or Doctor or Nuclear Physicist or Pilot etc., so the Benefits it is hard to match, my son in law has his Masters paid by the Army, my Daughter his wife has a Bachelors paid for by the Army, he will be getting out soon after 26 years with a Retirement that is worth a couple of Million Dollars, Many of the guys I was in the Army with have Retirements at a Young Age, because of numerous combat deployments some also have 100% Va, which when you combine is well over a few 100,000$ a year staying home, their homes the Service paid for and some paid off, while some may have been bought for 300,000 and not much money owed and the homes are near a million or more, I bought my house with no money down, sold it, bought another and sold and built the house i live in now, and have never actually paid a house payment when you count the profit from selling the homes. So just an opinion, but do not think people realize what the service offers, kind of like a doctor i hung out with talking about he went to John Hopkins and Georgetown University, and at 30 had no student debt, because the service paid for everything.
