I lived in Times Square briefly in 1989 and NYC back then was very, very wild. I don’t think any movie has ever captured the insanity of the place accurately - you really had to experience it. On the plus side, it was a thrilling, siren-drenched city with a thousand images hitting your eyes every second. On the downside, it was filthy, dangerous and stank of urine and rotten vegetables. For those today seeking the vibe depicted in films like Smithereens or Panic In Needle Park I recommend a trip to Berlin or Marseilles - they're like old NYC minus the crime and violence

check out mean streets and taxi driver by scorsese, they capture the grittiness of 70s new york pretty well too

I saw this film for the first time in 1984 on cable t.v. This movie always stayed in my thoughts for some reason. I found it here on YT last week and was so happy to watch it again!! I just love that whole '70's '80"s New York City art/music vibe. So so glad the film is available here! 🖤💜🖤💜

Seeing NYC in this film is such a great little piece of history. I love when the landlord is throwing Wrens clothes out the window and how grunge the street looks. Some great locations in this for sure

It's easy to sit here in my comfy house in 2019 and say "I wish I was in New York back then." But God damn it, I wish I was in New York back then!!!!!! >:)

This was such a damn good movie! Richard Hell was actually a fairly good actor in it as well...better than Blank Generation...yikes!

This was a pretty good film but I went to see because I thought it would feature music and performances by Richard Hell.

Let's be honest. This film did not reflect positively on the art sleaze New York Punk Culture, that had faded out at this point. New York had too many oldheads, that only latched on to the term for a comeup, anyway
