The Homesteaders of America Conference 2021 was an absolute blast! We had such a wonderful time with so many like-minded people who are ready and willing to put in the work to make a better life for themselves. Our favorite part of the weekend was meeting so many of YOU who encouraged us on our journey. You’re amazing!!

You are an encouragement to all of us! I was able to see you from a far as I was heading out Friday. Sorry I didn’t get to meet y’all, glad you had safe trip back and home. I live like an 1.5 south ofFront Royal and it was my first trip to HOA. With the amount of people and traffic I decided not to go back on Saturday honestly I was a little overwhelmed with the amount of people. Joel Salatin lives 10 miles from me and I didn’t even know till like 6 months ago,😂Thanks for sharing your life with us.

I'm with you on the crowds....I'm only an hour south now but didn't go. I really wanted to go to one of the classes on Thurs but didn't sign up soon enough and couldn't get in. I'll try again next year to catch one of the hands on classes and if I do I'll go to the gathering too maybe for one day like you did

I love my home made food as well! Taco Bell is garbage, haven't eaten it in years. Glad you had a good time and pulled off the road when the rain was so heavy. It's not only the rain but those big trucks really splash the water up so you can't see. I know, because I have been in a storm like that and thanked God that I made it out alive! Glad you had a great time.

Meg, I just wanted to say thank you for your videos. We relate so much as we've had to start over too. But we did several thousand miles restart. We have followed you for a long time and continue to enjoy your genuine lives. My parents enjoyed meeting you at HOA. We were home caring for the farm as we don't have farm sitters here yet. What you said about Buggy is what is true for us. We get easily overwhelmed with people and it was hard for my parents to think of everything we talk aloud every night as we watch your videos as we eat supper. We just wanted to say thanks for the salsa verde sauce inspiration. We had our first two freezes which resulted in lots of green tomatoes. And of course we couldn't let it go to waste! You defiantly inspired us in that video!

Some of the best naps I've ever taken have been in that scary hard rain in a car. You just pull over, mentally switch off the schedule for the day, and snooze till it lightens up. And the best meals I remember were by the light of an old coleman lantern cooked on an old coleman stove. Fast food isn't really worth it.

The thing about driving in the pouring rain is how thick the air inside the car gets. The humidity goes up several notches and it can be downright uncomfortable. I always crack the window enough to balance the humidity and thickness of the air and how much warmth I'm ok with losing. On the other hand, parking under an overpass and getting out for some lunch is always a bonus!

McDs gave us food poisoning 4 months ago, BK gave us a raw whopper a few months ago, Wendys gave us a stale tasteless new burger item last week that caused stomach issues, etc...... the food poisining, extreme gasteroul distress, and bad gas is not missed at all. @@jenniferrescott1149 it takes me a bit of time to become comfortable around new people then I can become me. I am shy too, at first. But most people don't understand that I speak the truth, which to some seems blunt, others say that it's just the truth. But too many people are overly sensitive these days. I grew up on a multi- generational 98% self sustainable farm. And I've had my own farm lands that I've rented as an adult. And for the past 8 going on 9 years I have lived off grid 100%. So, I have experienced a wide variety of this type of life. But I come across as a know- it- all. Bcuz people turn away from me, except when they need me/my help. I'm really not a people person. But I take family & family duties as my own personal business & I kinda take over in those situations. But mostly I stay to myself, my dog, and a tiny few very close friends. Most are older than me, but we grew up the same way & most in the same small town.

Hubby and I are in our 70's and too old to start homesteading, but LOVE all your videos and get concerned if you go too many days without posting. We do have a big garden and I do a lot of canning, freezing, and dehydrating. We are BLESSED to be able to watch you and all the other homesteaders I follow. Thank you for sharing your life and family with me.

When your passion is not exactly in step with the main stream, it can be a balm to the soul to find like minded people. Having your ideas and questions met with attention and respect is very affirming.
