I got to see Chick at The Blue Note with the quartet:Chick, Michael Brecker, Eddie Gomez, Steve Gadd; next night the trio: Chick, Avishai Cohen, Jeff Ballard . This was November 2001, a month after the tragedy. The energy was amazing, as anyone who has seen Chick live knows. However, with the 911 tragedy looming thick in everyone's spirit, it was an especially bittersweet experience. I am extremely grateful to have seen these extraordinary artists. Peace to Chick and Mike. 🙏Your music shaped the way I see the world in so many wonderful ways.♥️

Visions Of An Inner Mounting Apocalypse.

My goodness, all that unbelievable talent on stage...and a tiny stage at that, and this was the best that they could come up with? I know John is an amazing talent. His flamingo work is straight out of the universe somewhere. But I just could never really wrap my head around a lot, really most of his work. And I love prog rock. Live it, played it(no money in it)but Mclaughlin just is, most of the time, maybe just to good for my tastes. Chick and Return To Forever, Electrik Band w/ Weckl, Frank Gambale-- THE maestro shredder! et al. Jan Hammer, all the greats. But Mahavishnu is just over my head most of the time. Very demanding on the ear with very few melodic restatatives. Maybe I am showing my musical immaturity and I bow to you all that love him. You are probably equally as good players yourselves. For if you like it and understand it, chances are that you are the 2% of musicians that are truly phenomenal players who are every bit one with their craft. To those, I do very much bow.

The original was in 4/4, the "head" being a 3-3-2 clave pattern across two bars, followed by a break of 4 bars. In this version, the last bar of the 4-bar break is made 3/4 instead of 4/4.
