@@Jwarrior123 carbon-14 has a half-life short enough that you shouldn’t be able to detect any at all after some 10,000 years. I may have numbers off, but it’s nowhere near the millions or billions of years we are told is the age of the earth. So, these diamonds are necessarily young, and also got radioactive carbon from something besides cosmic rays in the atmosphere.

@@czmychal right, so how many times can we halve the number of C-14 atoms before we can’t detect them? (Remember this is a similar idea as folding paper in half repeatedly; 6, maybe 7 before it gets super hard.) let’s be generous and say 10, because there are a lot of atoms. That’s 57,000 years or so. That’s a lot less than a million years, and almost nothing compared to a billion.

What he is saying is that the diamonds ( at least the ones tested )would have been made at the same time, and suggests a creation narrative. Also, if further tests of other diamonds continue to yield the same results, then how do you have billions of years of Earths history? There should be numerous ages. Or did volcanoes only erupt on one occasion in history?

It could be YECs do not tell you about the ways C14 can naturally be created in diamonds. The question is why would they not tell you about these natural processes??? The presence of carbon-14 in diamonds can indeed seem puzzling at first, given the long geological timescales traditionally associated with diamond formation. However, several factors may explain why C14 is detected, even though diamonds are thought to be millions to billions of years old. First, the trace amounts of carbon-14 found in diamonds are extremely small. Carbon-14 has a relatively short half-life of 5,730 years, so in theory, any C14 in a diamond should have decayed away long ago. However, this trace presence could be due to contamination or background radiation from the surrounding environment or equipment during testing. Instruments measuring isotopes are incredibly sensitive and can pick up tiny amounts of modern carbon contamination, even from the air or handling. Additionally, radioactive decay in the Earth's crust can generate neutrons, which in turn can convert nitrogen (which diamonds sometimes contain) into carbon-14, producing C14 in materials deep within the Earth over time. This process, known as neutron capture, could account for the small amounts of carbon-14 detected in diamonds. The overall weight of evidence for the Earth's age, such as radiometric dating of rocks, ice core layers, and the fossil record, still strongly supports a planet that's about 4.5 billion years old. While questions like these are always good to explore and study, they don’t overturn the vast amount of evidence in favor of an ancient Earth.

So, are you saying diamonds are a conglemartion of surface carbons that have been melting within in subduction zones for eons, and this is why diamonds would date relatively close to each other(?) It's no that I disagree with your explanation, it's just that I did some digging and found the following interesting information... "Carbon found on Earth's surface does not directly match the carbon found in subduction zones; while both contain carbon, the primary source of carbon in subduction zones is primarily derived from the ocean floor sediments, including carbonate shells and organic matter, which are subducted beneath tectonic plates, meaning the composition of carbon differs significantly between the two locations."
