There must still be some mighty interesting rock pickings around the old tailings dumps here.

Someone told me they had found some turquoise in this area of the Yucca Valley. Not sure what grade or quality it would be. Thank you for watching. Have a happy and blessed Easter weekend.

@@oldlostminer I wonder what the base ore was. I’m guessing scheelite.
@fadedexile8 ай бұрын
there's almost no cool orr interesting rocks to find at that location, I live on Boriana Mine road just down the mountain from the mine and have been up there countless times. I did find a hubcap from a 1938 Ford Edsall once.

Great video! Have you heard of the Pine Creek mine located high up in the Sierras north of Bishop, CA?
@oldlostminer10 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching. No I haven't heard of Pine Creek in California. I'll have to do a search on that. Have yourself a blessed and Easter and a great week. Thanks again for stopping by.

Yes, please look up Pine Creek and also Tempiute located near Rachel, Nevada. They were both owned by Union Carbide at one time.

I went there a few yeas ago. There was a large rain water pond with gold fish in it.

You're right. I noticed another KZbin video that showed the gold fish in a pond up there. Thank you for mentioning that and thanks for watching. Have yourself a great weekend!!

it's not rainwater, there's a spring coming out of the mountain just above it

I never knew about this mine, even though about ten years ago I was doing monthly maintenance on several stormwater monitoring sites a little further southeast at Artillery Peak (around four miles from Alamo Lake; nearest town is Wickiup). This was an old manganese mine that was proposed to be reopened, but I guess floundering manganese prices and the tons of environmental and bureaucratic red tape eventually choked off the last gasp of enthusiasm for this mine's redevelopment. 🤦🏻♂️
@oldlostminer10 ай бұрын
Environmental and bureaucratic red tape. That is all that is needed to shutting down anyone's enthusiasm. I use to placer mine and that was one of the main reasons I shut down. Interesting about the manganese mine. Thanks for watching. New video every Saturday.

I think the borax mines have produced more money than gold-right?
@oldlostminer6 ай бұрын
I couldn't say for sure but I know there were men who became millionaires back then mining borax. Thanks for commenting and watching.

aND in the end all that is left there is a huge garbage dump of left over buildings and piles of rock in the tore up landscape, and they all walked away and left the mess for "Somebody else" to clean up !!!
