Thanks so much for leaving this comment. I am so happy to hear you’re getting great results. Now your dilemma is do you share this information with your friends or keep it a secret so you can keep out driving them. 😊

I’m 68 and by lifting the heel has really helped since I am not as flexible any more. I have been watching your videos and have subscribed. You are an excellent instructor! I started taking a few lessons but I am learning a ton from you! Thank you!!

Hey Matt, I’m seeing more and more of Mike Dunaway’s videos here. Only, it’s Steve Pratt playing them. I know he teaches the Austin/Dunaway swing. But, I’m not sure if the hand action is the same! I’m not that savvy, so what is the difference?
@yoursimplegolfswing5 ай бұрын
He has made videos, claiming Mike Austin has it wrong, and that he knows better than Austin. He has made videos, making disparaging remarks about both Austin and Dunaway. I personally prefer to trust Austin.

I’ve been hitting some fairly decent drives following your tips but this was the part I was missing by not sliding the hip. Going to give this a try tomorrow and report back.

Ken, can’t wait to hear how it goes

Took this to the range today. At first I had a bit of a problem with the tilt and turn and was lifting my arms too much but after getting the tilt and turn dialed in with straightening the left leg and shifting my weight on the downswing,I was striking the ball probalby the best I can remember in a long time. I had drives past the 250 yard marker and my irons were solid with more distance than I’m used to. A couple of 5 irons actually reached the 200 yard marker. At my age (74) I’ll take it! Can’t wait until with a little more practice I can take this out to my local courses. Sure glad I discovered your channel!

@kenhoneycutt2046 Ken Thank you for sharing your experience. 200 yards with a five iron that’s gotta feel great!

Had a little help with the wind behind me but the contact was one of those you know you just smashed the xxx out of it.😊
@yoursimplegolfswing10 ай бұрын
@kenhoneycutt2046 don’t give wind too much credit. The formula for much wind will aid your ball flight is take the wind speed divided by two and that’s how many extra yards you can expect. So a 10 mph wind will only give you five extra yards. A 20 mph wind will only give you 10 extra yards.

hi Matt, I subcribed to The Body Swing by Paul Wilson and it has helped me to stop hitting with my arms. Is your course any different?
@yoursimplegolfswing9 ай бұрын
Yes. Mine is based solely on the teachings of Mike Austin and Mike Dunaway.

@@yoursimplegolfswing thanks for the quick response. your instructions are so easy to follow, I'm going to subscribe to your course. at 69 yrs old I'd love to gain back some of those yards that I've lost.

Many of my students are in your age group, and they’re very excited about the gains they’ve experienced in distance with every club

Ask yourself a question: Amongst the old masters of golf, who is Paul Wilson's influence? Can you visit the master's technique to decide for yourself is Paul is right or not? There's nothing in golf that has not been taught or thought of before the year 1990. Nothing. So never mistake a good leaf for being the tree.

Matt, good morning. The weight shift makes sense and throwing the weight into the ball. Once your weight is shifted to the rear, what exactly triggers the down swing? Moving that weight has always been difficult for me. Is there a thought or movement that gets your weight moving?
@yoursimplegolfswing10 ай бұрын
Good morning Rowdy. The weight shift transfer trigger differs for each individual. Are use a combination of thinking about stepping down on the left heel while straightening my left leg. Another good trigger is to think about starting by lifting your right heel and firing your right hip down and towards the ball. Try standing upright and just practice swinging you’re right hit back then your left hip forward. Remember to incorporate the turn as you go back and return as you go forward.
@rowdyrich6910 ай бұрын
Got it. I'll work on it. This movement may be what I've been missing as far as not seeing the power/distance I've been trying to get. Thanks. @@yoursimplegolfswing

I tried shifting my weight from right to left like how you described but I get the feeling like I'm early extending. Can you elaborate on the difference between the two. Thanks
@yoursimplegolfswing10 ай бұрын
You have to let the weight shift of your lower body pull your upper body. The only way you can be getting early extension is if you’re letting your shoulders and arms move forward before your weight has shifted.
@lgs4210 ай бұрын
The weight shift back goes to 4 o’clock, but what hour do you throw it to coming back? 10 o’clock?
@yoursimplegolfswing10 ай бұрын
Yes, thanks for pointing that out, I forgot to mention that. Lower spine goes back to 4 o’clock and then forward towards 10 o’clock.
@lgs4210 ай бұрын
@@yoursimplegolfswing thanks. I do remember Dunaway talking about this sometime ago and I thought maybe you had modified it.
@allisonkeith164810 ай бұрын
I thought it was closer to 3 o’clock to 9 o’clock (a parallel shift) as per the video clip with Austin showing Dunaway the “maximium power” drill with his butt up against a wall implying the shift is same as target line
@yoursimplegolfswing10 ай бұрын
dunaway’s taught it 4 o’clock to 10 o’clock. Personally I find very little difference between the two but I have noticed it’s easier for me to hit a draw doing 4 o’clock to 10 o’clock. On the same token it’s easier for me to hit a fade going from 3 o’clock to 9 o’clock.

@@yoursimplegolfswing Thanks Matt I’ll give both a try and see if I can shape the ball that way. Love your channel btw 👏🏻

Do you get any tensor fascia lata pain? I get pain on my left side, and I’m right handed.
@yoursimplegolfswing10 ай бұрын
No, not since I started using the swing. I will say that I did experience that pain about 25 years ago, completely unrelated to the golf swing. I went to physical therapy and they showed me that my hips were out of alignment. They put me back into alignment, and it took care of the problem. I bought one of those inversion tables, and when the pain would return, I would simply hang upside down on my inversion table, one leg at a time. That would put me back into alignment. But I have not experience those issues in many many years. If you do have that pain, I highly recommend an inversion table. You can get a good one for around $100 or so on Amazon.
