This has to be the most comprehensive video about acne treating ingredients on youtube. Thank you
@le_th_3 жыл бұрын
Agreed, although I would politely edit that comment by saying OVER THE COUNTER ingredients because there are some absolutely extraordinary prescriptions and laser treatments (and some clinical chemical peels) that can be life-changing for people with acne vulgaris that is cystic. Accutane Spironolactone Retin-A (I do not recommend tetracycline, minocycline, etc. because they eventually destroy your gut bacteria and that's a whole can of worms you do NOT want to open or learn the hard way like I did) Then, there's also unbelievably effective laser treatments like... IPL combined with photodynamic therapy w/levulan (a miserable 10 day recovery in the dark, but beyond worth it: better than Accutane). Microlaser treatments There's something else called Isotaz, which I haven't personally tried (I've tried all the above excepting this one), which is said to be amazing and effective, but that needs to be discussed with a dermatologist (as well as everything else above). However, I was shocked to hear it requires 6-10 treatments, but the upside is there is zero pain, no downtime, and no sensitivity to sunlight afterwards (very much unlike Photodynamic therapy combined with IPL). Honestly, as someone who has had to deal with treating acne for the last 40 years (and new treatments have been made available as years turned into decades), there is no reason that anyone should have to deal with acne today unless they don't have access to medical treatment where they live. This isn't every treatment, but just examples of how much more is available than just the slow, tedious process of over the counter ingredients which tend to be far less effective on moderate to severe acne (especially cystic acne).

Also I recently found out I'm lactose intolerant so I cut out milk and it did really help with my acne. Purging isn't bad, it makes you break out all the acne that was going to appear over the coarse of a month, in 2 weeks. Which makes it faster. So imagine Having a dirty closet, you take out a small portion of the mess everyday to clean and throw out. And you do that for a month. Versus taking out a big portion in one week, yes it will make the room look even worse, but that's only because a lot more is coming out, meaning you get rid of more of it faster. And then you sort that out, throw it away, and guess what, you have way less of a mess left in your closet. Hope this helps. (:

I’d also like to add an ingredient to your acne tier list: harsh cleansers. Growing up and even into adulthood, I thought the harsher the cleanser, the better it will work for my acne. I would even leave the cleanser on my skin for 20 minutes or more to really try to degrease my skin and pores. My acne just stayed the same or often, got worse. A couple years ago I decided to try a very gentle cream cleanser with no soap or detergents/surfactants added. Before switching to a cream cleanser, I had been on Retin-A for a couple of years so my facial skin was not too bad but I was still experiencing breakouts here and there, but what was worse was that I constantly had these cysts form in my neck and I ent years with always having at least a couple in my neck all the time. When I switched to a cream cleanser, within days my face was so smooth and the small breakout I was still having went away. Yay! But what I couldn’t believe was that these cysts in my neck that I had been getting since my children were born went away and has never come back. I went from having at least a couple big, red cysts (angry looking but deep) on my neck to nothing. And to this day I have never had another cyst on my neck. IMO, harsh cleansers damage the skin barrier. Even the gentlest lathering cleanser can irritate some people’s skin if it’s really sensitive. So although harsher cleansers is something most people experiencing acne will reach for, in my experience, it made my acne much worse.

Another factor besides diet is that acne can be an allergic reaction! I thought I'd just share my experience since it seems to be an uncommon one - I had pretty severe acne for 5+ years that I thought was hormonal/genetic but after seeing an allergist it turns out it was actually caused by hereditary allergies in the form of skin allergies (not dairy/gluten allergy which was suggested in the diet section but more like... I was allergic to 30+ things including humidity and spices haha)! I also had symptoms besides acne (dermatographia, "goosebumps" etc) so probably if you just have acne it wouldn't be this type of allergy but just sharing in case it helps someone else! I'm halfway through taking immunotherapy medication and it's done miracles for my skin.

@N A to be honest, avoid consuming dairy or cut it completely, maybe replace them with almond milk, vegan cheese yogurt... , same for big quantities of sugar like chocolate, sweets, eat it in minimal quantities no need to cut it out but be mindful about it , eating lots of veggies and fruits , replace sugary drinks with green tea(you could add mint cinnamon and ginger while heating the water it gives it a nice taste ,but be careful of how much ginger and cinnamon u put) ,coffee (you could add a vegan milk if u don't like plain coffee) and drink enough water , make sure to get enough sleep 8+ , personally my acne got better while i was cutting bread from my diet , so maybe I have a problem with gluten, i advise you , for example look at your diet and think about the food ... and try to cut out and see what happens , also I forgot to mention I barely eat fast food but when i do i feel like my skin reddens so yeah , I guess that is all , hope i helped u a little

I am hopefully waiting for them to make a "seborrheic dermatitis skincare reccomendations" video or "seboreic dermatits safe & unsafe ingredients" video. They've never touched on that skin issue.

Please do a video for hormonal acne and skin issues (relating to hormones) because the struggle is real. Also i love the idea of separating the supplement vs the topical.

I wish you guys had been around when I was a young teen. One time my mom put bleach on my face to “sanitize” it. Needless to say, it didn’t clear up my acne. 😖

I’ve been watching for about a year. Y’all are always entertaining and informative. But this video with the “ worksheet” was by far the most helpful to send to my friends and family! So kudos to you two gentlemen for listening and responding to your audience. Ps. I have pretty good insurance but patience are treated like catch and release. 100% treatment ( ready for prescription and procedures) ie. catch and 0 preventative 0% education / in and out, ie. release. Rinse and repeat. Proactively, I found you about 7 months ago. You helped me define my 15 yr battle of disfiguring acne. You saved me from buying wrong treatments. You broke down the diagnoses and why one is different from another!, you are educators! This is what separates “doctors” from a “Good Dr.” you two are Great Dr.s!!! Thank you!!!

I used 5% Benzoyl Peroxide before I knew it would bleach anything, and just kind of... indiscriminately rubbed it all over my face as if it was moisturizer. I ruined a bunch of clothes/sheets/towels, but it didn't bleach any of my hair at all! My hair is a really stubborn dark-brown color though, so maybe it just wasn't strong enough.

In my twenties the doctor prescribed me 5% with no warning... it bleached my eyebrows from the usual dark blonde to that funny yellowish blonde. And also I have ruined a few t-shirts.

Hey guys! Love the videos, thanks for everything you share here, it's all awesome! I'd love it if you'd consider doing a video focusing on skin care while pregnant/nursing and maybe share some tips on how to help with the hormonal acne most women experience during and after pregnancy.

Purely anecdotal, but I was avoiding dairy, milk particularly. Started wanting cereal and within two weeks of eating cereal with milk I had 3 breakouts. I kind of have seen this before but never paid attention. I don't even like milk! I just forgot to buy myself a substitute and really really wanted rice crispies🙃🙂

I have suffered hormonal acne really really bad since i was 12 y.o😭. And it is getting worse in my 20's. For decades ago i always believed natural ingredients are better. I also use many products but it just works temporarily. 2 months ago i decided to use Retinoid, Niacinamide+ Zinc, and Ceramide(in moisturizer), and my skin improved CRAZILYYy OMGGGGG guys you should try Retinoid if you have suffered long period acne. Dont forget to use SPF and moisturizer. Btw so sorry for my bad english🙏

My dermatologist gave me Tretinoin (apply in PM with lots of good moisturizer) & Benzoyl Peroxide w/ Clindamycin (in the AM with moisturizer & sunscreen) Both were great at stopping my acne and getting rid of the dark scars. When I was planning pregnancy, he took me off both and gave me Azelaic acid(PM) and Clindamycin in the AM (w/o the benzoyl peroxide) and it kept my face clear. It just take some time but my face definitely got so much better. Bonus part on retinoids, it keeps the wrinkles at bay too.

Everyone says salicylic acid is great for acne. Literally every time I use it my acne gets waaay worse. And I have given it 3 months...way past the "purge" phase. Maybe I'm allergic or something, but my skin hates it.

Lol consuming milk at night is the worst thing especially if u have acne.. Metabolism is slower at the evening so you're flirting with acne by drinking milk at that time..
