Yes! Would love to see more advanced and in depth content like this, so much climbing KZbin feels focused on entry level climbing techniques, or try to cover too much in one video ao that we don't get a proper in depth understanding, but you're doing it perfectly

For someone like me, who has started climbing in his mid-thirties and doesn't have a network of better climbers aka coaches around him, your videos on climbing technique are a revelation, man. I haven't seen anything like it among all the tutorials etc. on KZbin. Climbing is what keeps me going. So... thank you!

This one was very interesting to me. I’ve never shied away from foot swapping and always found it fairly intuitive, but for that reason I’ve never actually thought much about it at all, so seeing the technique laid out like this is making me excited to get to the gym to see if I can improve what I do naturally and make myself a more efficient climber. Thanks for the video.

Watched this video yesterday and tried it as a technique drill today. What an eye opener! All tips are super helpful, but the game changer for me is keeping the top of the toes of the incoming foot against the wall before and while it rolls down/in. I would never have thought of this. It gives so much control compared to dropping it straight down, which often makes me miss the best part of the hold. Thanks for these wonderful videos and also for your books, which have changed many aspects of my climbing over the last few months🙏🏻

These two footwork technique videos for me are kind of filling the gap for "how do I improve my footwork?" After injuring a finger pulley, I knew that foot slipping while crimping was ome of the contributors (because I read 'Make or Break', another great work by Dave which I admire), but I never had much insight into how to actually improve the said technique. Thank you, Dave! Can't wait to try it out in the field 😊

By the way, I had ankle injuries that destroyed completely my dorsiflexion and I tried improving it for years but with almost no result. This year actually went to a physio that did ankle mobilization every week and I had an exstensive rehab plan to perform 5 days a week. My dorsiflexion is now into the normal range again!!! I know it might not sound amazing, but I really feel a big improvement and I'm now less prone to injuries from falls as well!

Absolutetly magnificent video series, Dave. Keep going in this direction, as you are solving actual climbing problems for me 🙂: - I'm highly motivated to go out for climbing and try it (same with the last technique video) - very succicnt explanations of what many mid-experienced climbers do intuitively but cant control conciously - this might become somewhat of a toolbox approach of solving problems

Really nice video. I thought I was solid on foot swaps, but there's a lot of technique I was oblivious to, EG heel heights, pressing into the wall with the incoming toe, and roll vs drop. Also, I think 10-15 minutes is the perfect length for a technique video: long enough to get the point across in depth, not too long that it's too significant a time investment as a viewer.

I would be really interested in seeing a video like this about mantling and mantle technique. I think this is really important as it's often the bit where you really don't want to fall off. I've not really seen an in depth analysis of the movement and how you would go about training to improve mantles.

Funny to see a whole video on foot swapping. For some time I have thought I rely on foot swapping too much. As even when I am given the option not to, I will do it, just because its so reliable and honestly no more difficult than normal foot placement. Maybe this is a sign that I should just stick with it haha.

I broke my ankle inside bouldering very early on in my climbing 6 years later I’m currently recovering from a sprained ankle on the same one… and foot swapping and even powering off that foot can be so disheartening and tricky… so thankyou for this video! Ankles are so important! People who haven’t suffered an injury don’t get how hard it is afterwards.

Great video - gave me a lot of pointers on how to train getting better on swapping feet. I usually try the drop methode - but nobody ever told me to drop my heel before attempting it. I usully did a little hop to take weight off - because as you said it felt like i was standing on the bottom foot. Some people told me the roll methode was superior - don't know really, but will try it next session

Hi Dave, I have implemented your approach to footswapping in my warmup. Do you have a technique for swapping feet in pockets? I came across this issue on a recent project. This is so much to think about! I find that alot of your videos talk about techniques I already use without thinking but maybe this is due to having climbed for nearly 30 years? I'd love to climb E9 but my journey seems slow. They bring said I really enjoy climbing solo or lead rope solo at mid grades to E2. Who else climbs lead rope solo regularly? Am I fairly alone in this discipline?
