Sometimes we lose reptiles from the hobby. We cannot let this happen to these!!
Pachydactylus is such an amazing group of geckos. They have unique behaviors, and their babies are about as beautiful as any reptile in existence.
As recently as 15 years ago we had many species of Pachydactylus in the hobby. Today we have around 10! And, unfortunately, the number decreases each year.
This video will talk about the plight of Pachydactylus in the gecko hobby and how we can better our care, breeding and raising these baby geckos.

Awesome and informative! Maybe one day I'll get some Pachydactylus and breed em too... I've seen a few of them for sale online but rarely captive bred (besides y'all breeding them in captivity). They seem like such neat geckos to watch and care for!

They are rare, sometime we see rangei and fasciatus but not the others.

Gecko people should consider taking inspiration from the chelonian crowd and put together a formal organization like the Turtle and Tortoise Preservation Group to coordinate maintaining captive populations of these species. Stuff like making lists of who has what, facilitating breeding loans, getting animals in the hands of people who want to propagate them, etc. I also wonder how many of the species currently being imported will disappear from the hobby when shipments inevitably stop. For example, how many species of Paroedura are truly established in the hobby besides P. picta? By that I mean having more than a handful of breeders regularly producing them; all too often a species that was "readily available" disappears when the one person who was producing them gets out of the game due to choice or losing their breeding group. That's not even getting into the Cyrtodactylus, Tarentola and smaller genera that are rarely bred by anyone...

I find it hard to agree with the title. The vague wide scope in which you describe the possibility could apply to almost any animal.

Except it is a Pachydactylus shown on the thumbnail :) I know there are a few of these species where less than 2 or 3 people currently have them.
