I’m a 76 yo female who has increased my protein consumption to at least 100g of protein per day. As I weigh about 130 lbs (60Kg) that amounts to about 1.6g/Kg of body weight. According to what I’ve read recently, this should be sufficient for me. I have noticed that I have had a much easier time increasing training weights. When I started training about a year ago, I couldn’t ANY pushups. After a couple of months, I was able to do 2 in a row 😂 My protein intake at the time was between 50 and 55g per day. About 9 months ago I increased my protein intake to 100-110g. I restarted the weight training - same frequency of 2x/week - and was able to increase the number of pushups to 30/set. Yup, I am exhausted after 1 set but, hey, I have a fairly easy time carrying my great grandson’s wiggly little body when I need to prevent him dashing into the street. That’s a real plus!

Mature lady here trying to ensure my bones etc stay strong; higher protein can make insulin spike also. Over this past few years I have realised this and had to amend. I prefer OMAD but have had to go to two meals a day in order to get sufficient (personal to me) protein in.

@@LatimusChadimus I didn't mishear. She said a minimum of 30g constitutes a bolus. I know because I scoured her videos to find that number, and decided I'd do nothing less than 35g of animal protein in any meal. I generally get more. PS: That's the minimum. Individual requirements can be higher.

I agree that older people need more protein based on the latest research. However, drinking sugar-bomb protein shakes such as Ensure, Boosts is not what I agree with. Also older people still need to perform strength training to maximize benefit of higher protein intake. Muscle loss easily accelerates decline of health, including dementia, in older people.

I convince a friend to make eggnog instead of buying those. After over a decade of veganism her health totally fell apart. Close to death. At the hospital, beside prescriptions for hormones, which she had stopped making, no cholesterol, they recommended ensures. Compared to the vegan garbage great. Compared to real food, not so much. She will eat a little fish now as well. But mostly vegetarian. Better than nothing. She has improved. Eating cheese as well. 1 raw egg to each cup of whole milk. A quick squeeze of stivia or 1/4 teaspoon raw honey dependingon the situation. . For those worried about food poisoning, one in every 20 thousand eggs has it. If the egg floats in water it is bad. If farm fresh, wash first before cracking open. I grew up with this. Not the syrup they call ggnog at the grocery store. I can not remember a year without some sort of food recall for produce. Usually 2 or 3 every year. Often lettuce or mushrooms. Yet no one is yelling to not eat those raw.

Eat protein that ideally comes with fat, until you feel a sense of Satiety, then non starchy carbs and lastly starchy carbs, if you so desire. If you struggle to eat solid type of protein, I guess taking something like, High protein Greek yogurt or Cottage cheese would suffice. No doubt Protein powders can be beneficial for some.

At 7:54 you mentioned the appropriateness of large-bolus protein for sexagenarians. I am 60, and find that one huge breakfast, 77 g - 97 g protein, primarily BBBE (side of kraut/kimchee), allows for an equal bolus at supper, comfortable intake of protein (my simple formula is to use my BMI healthy range, 154 lbs -194 lbs, as a corresponding high-DIAAS protein bolus at supper time. Anyway, I do chores, in between writing papers for my doctoral program, and lift on my patio here in the sunny Mojave Desert, soaking up the vitamin D. So, seniors, eat more beef!

I tried a high fat but only 60-70 grams protein. I wasn’t satisfied, I feel satisfied at about 160 grams/day split into 2 meals and whatever fat comes with that meat but not extra fat. I’m female 67 and not super active, just walk a bit and a bit of resistance. 3+ years Carnivore and healthy, feel great!

It does not matter how much protein you eat if your body lacks the digestive enzymes to utilize it. I actually have the graphs of my blood protein cascading downward below normal as a side effect of Keytruda infusions. Digestive enzymes changed the data upward. I was a total carnivore!

If you are serious about doing a rapid fat loss approach, buy Lyle McDonalds book rapid fat loss. It helps you set up the diet based on science and has the “why’s” to set up the diet appropriately. Also has base supplement recommendations for electrolytes so you don’t feel like absolute crap.

I don't feel like crap, but the concept is "What happens when you don't eat protein, but the amino acids that are in the protein?" The problem with most people as they age is that digesting protein is more difficult and then it sits in the stomach and rots which causes inflammation. Please talk more about digestion and digestive enzymes and betaine HCL. I had trouble losing weight and I had chronic inflammation and I would eat whole food plant based. It came to a point were I noticed the inflammation was coming from eating meat. I became vegan for that reason, but I decided to try different digestive enzymes that had all the necessary enzymes to digest protein, fat, lactose, and carbs. I can finally eat meat! I don't suffer from inflammation anymore!

Straw men argument, " if you're eating 46g of protein per day what else you'll be eating " and carbs are bad if you're sedentary. Sorry, but you're just wrong, if you're in poor metabolic state too much protein will elevate your homocysteine and if you're gut is in poor health it will create autoimmune problems due to leaky gut. In poor state people will have a RQ close to 0.7, so carb burning mode and that's why so many fail the "amazing" keto and carnivore diets. So first deal with what's causing oxidative stress and then you can add protein. Sure, if you're in perfect health probably a carnivore nutrient rich diet with fermented foods is the way to go but if not, the choline, carnitine will make it worse and that's why a lot of people don't feel better with extra protein. If we're talking about supplements like glycine or taurine i can get behind that but just meat will make you fill worse. Not to mention lack of hcl or bile production will certainly make you feel like crap, or lack of MTHFR support There is good data that 1. l.plantarum increases muscle mass while decreasing fat at 90+ billion per day . 2. Omega 3s help with mucle building and lower inflammation overall. 3. toxins/heavy metals will absolutely create oxidative stress and adding protein ( you're talking about meat 99% of the time ) will add iron/copper. Donate blood, add ALA + turmeric, try different probiotics especially l plantarum, l reuteri, s builardi. Resolve candida/sibo if you have it, take tudca, glycine, taurine etc. maybe a little NAC. Also, i saw a video of you 6 years ago and you looked 15years younger, it obv what you're doing is not working. But yeah..i understand you need to sell " special creatine "

RQ 0.7 is fat burning, not carbs. RQ 1.0 is carb burning. Studies show that 6 month low carb Med diet reduces individual RQ. Low fat diet does not reduce individual RQ over 6 months. Lowered RQ correlates with improved glycemic and blood lipid parameters.

I'd argue anything that helps lower oxidative stress will make it easier to burn fat and while i agree fat burning is the cleaner fuel, a lot of people can't do it properly. You need good gut health and bile secretion. Bile is especially a big problem since we don't have enough choline or don't make enough choline because some people have an impairment in MTHFR.
