This is a long one but I’d like to talk a bit about the company who sells Buttkicker products. I have one Gamer 2 and two Mini Concerts from the simulation kit. All running off the SimVibe software. All I can say is fantastic with VR. I bought my Gamer 2 first. I had it for about 9 months and the little red knob on the clamp came off. Most likely due to two things. One being I had it clamped to something that was slightly to small. Two being it was running off the game audio and not software like SimVibe. When doing that it can really go nuts from certain sounds. The Gamer 2 kept shaking loose. I had to constantly tighten it down leading to over tightening causing the knob to break off the threads. There was no way I could tighten it down after that and had no other options for mounting under the seat. I contacted Buttkicker looking for a replacement clamp. They responded hours later to tell me it’s unacceptable that it broke and they apologized. They said they didn’t offer replacement clamps however they’d like to confirm my shipping address as they’re sending me out a brand new one. I confirmed my address and within 20 minutes I received a shipping confirmation.....absolutely incredible customer service. I was so impressed I decided to buy two Simulation kits right then and there. Upon receiving them, one of the amps stopped working within a month. I contacted them and received the same sort of response as before. An apology and shipping address confirmation. About 20 minutes later a shipping confirmation. Both times they sent me replacements before receiving the broken equipment. Both times they shipped across the US in less then 7 days helping me get back up and running fast. I commend that company for standing behind their products. I have a good friend who bought me a Oculus Rift for my B day a couple years ago. He’s a very busy guy running multiple companies he owns. Within 8 months one earphone stopped working on the Oculus. I contacted them attempting to get it repaired or replaced. Oculus said they didn’t have a service center but would replace the headset if I had the receipt. I told them it was a gift but I could get the receipt. Once I told them that they refused to go any further with me until i got my friend involved. Me sending them a picture of the receipt from Amazon wasn’t good enough. They needed to drag my busy friend into the mix. This led to email tag between myself, my friend and Oculus. This went in for about 5 days. Each time Oculus replied to our email thread it was a different customer service rep asking my friend different questions. Finally my friend said “stop fu*king us around Oculus and replace his damn Rift!” They finally did. It took about 3 weeks to get done as they had to receive the broken one first. On top of that I received a refurbished headset, most likely one that originally had the same problem as mine did....it’s a known issue with the CV1. I understand these are two very different products at very different price points. However, stand behind the products you sell.

Got one on my pedal floor and one under my seat. Using Sim Commander. I use them every single time I drive. And it has made me a better driver. And I refuse to drive without them. It takes weeks to get them dialed in perfectly to you and your rig. But it's worth the time invested.
@ringod1235 жыл бұрын
Same here, only difference is instead of paying exorbitant amount of money for 2 buttkickers i instead paid £80 for 2 standalone transducers (more powerful than buttkickers too) and £80 for a good second hand hi-fi amp to run them from. Using this for the past few years now and I cant race without Sim Commander anymore.
@pR1mal.5 жыл бұрын
It's rather annoying when the buttkicker transmits voice frequencies when someone speaks. Sim Commander cures that in sims which support it, by using the sims telemetry data to produce the vibrations instead of an audio input. Much more accurate feedback, imo.

@Mr_Latte_UK5 жыл бұрын
You can still use "audio" for tactile as it also provides some effects that telemetry based tactile cant. To control this we use a crossover to use only low-frequencies for the unit to operate with. Typically below 150Hz are usable but many units do not produce much vibration over 100Hz.
@pR1mal.5 жыл бұрын

If you do buy them. I suggest you mount them vertically. It will give you better road texture and bumps. Than mounting horizontally as seen early in the video. It can give you a sense of surge when using lower range frequency for these settings.

I agree a buttkicker is awesome. I tried a motion rig and I like this better. It gives feedback that helps you drive better when paired with a software like Sim Racing Studio (free to try). I would not use it straight off the audio channel, waste of money. TRY THIS FOR INCREDIBLE AWESOMENESS... I started with the sim kit (mini concert and amp) under my RSeat S1. I then moved the mini underneath the foot plate and added a full size LFE with a 1000w Dayton amp to my seat. I had to move the RSeat bracket to the front of the seat for clearance and the front bracket to the rear of the seat with some drilling. Now you get feedback from feet, seat and FFB wheel, your 3 points of contact. Some people use multiple small buttkickers for directional vibrations, but I find the larger buttkicker is amazing and feels much more realistic than a small one or probably several. My rig is solid with good floor isolation so I get no vibration noise like I heard in this video. Of course I don't use trips, I use 12ft 4k HDR projection.

Haha. I liked your style for this one Shaun, that was fun to watch! I always think of myself as a ‘budget’ sim racer, in so far as I do not have a direct drive wheel, or a motion rig or multiple transducers, but I have had one of these for years. I suppose I need to redefine ‘budget’ as I use my HTC vive for VR (rather than my 17’ monitor!), but I only have a Playseat Challenge which needs folded away after each session as my wife dislikes the clutter. When I first got the Buttkicker Gamer 2, I purchased SimVibe at the same time. Once you have factored in a cheap extra USB sound card, this does increase cost by around 50% sadly, but WOW, dial it in and it’s great! Was a bit confusing to setup first time, but now I can setup from cupboard to racing in less than 10 mins. .....just damn annoying I can’t leave it setup permanently😊.

I had one over 10 years ago with my playseat that I bolted a bmx stuntpeg to, at the time it was gtr2, rfactor ect, back then you'd have to mess with the gain and stuff constantly, in the end of got bored of constantly adjusting trying to get it work over rumbles and not shake to death over wind noise or something stupid, pretty good when it works, but unless they have an official software solution to go with it now for the sounds as it's a bit gimmicky overall as it doesn't always work like you want it to, the physics driven rumbles is what I'd be looking for but also a faint rpm feel if possible. Also 10 years ago I could blast my Logitech z550 and buttkicker and have the it shaking next doors windows, now, I can barely have volume half way before a complaint. Forget about using this in a shared household on an upper floor, everyone will hate you.

So what would you suggest as I am about to purchase an RSeat S1. Will any home stereo receiver/amplifier with numerous channels run the butt kickers? Or do they need to be some sort of sub amplifier? I thought of buying two butt kicker adapters for the RSeat S1 and make a brace extension to connect the butt kicker adapter to the front of the chassis coming off the pedal deck. I just don't know if having them mounted there especially running in multi channel through something like sim vibe would be too close together. If a home stereo 7.1 channel receiver/amplifier would work then I could mount up to 8 positions so long as I can isolate the higher frequencies through all channels to what I want and need. That means I could run all four corners for the tires, one for the steering deck, one under the seat and one for each side of the car close to the seat to simulate getting banged around.
@cobra412uf5 жыл бұрын
Maybe use a Biamp MCA 8150 with 150 watts over 8 channels. That's more than enough to run a few Butt Kicker mini LFE's and it would give expansion room if someone chose to buy the butt kickers over a period of time.

One Buttkicker is better than no Buttkicker, but with small ones i would go 5. Four in SimVibe Chassis and one for SimVibe seat. I suggest to spring-load the rig with 8-10 Brooks-springs made for bicycle saddles. Much more immersion because of movements and full undocking from the ground, so no neighbors with pitch forks in front of your door anymore. With 80/20-rigs you just need M8 screws and the nuts, and for the ground-side i'm using some plastic-feet they fit in. Even with the GS-5 i'm using them, because the effects feel more natural. And the big Buttkickers are really a lot more powerful than the small ones. A bit more pricey, but worth it.

Note of warning to everyone: once you have one, you'll want a dozen. You want one for each wheel on your virtual for road feel, one for the engine, one for the pedals, one for the shifter, one for under your butt, one on your back. But wait, now you have Simvibe and impacts are mostly sideways, so you need a buttkicker on its side on all sides to simulate impacts from the virtual car onto your rig. After this you'll want a GS5 seat. Than after that you will go full bonkers and get motion. It is just that good but it's one of those rabbit holes in our hobby that will keep us spending more and more money.

Buttkickers are very prone to failure. Fast forward two years and their new ones are over $300 and still failing. Apparently people don't learn and keep following the 'influencer' trends. Get a Nobsound amp and a couple Dayton Audio transducers... costs about $75 on Amazon. You get TWO units to place on your rig instead of just one.

That intro was terrifyingly cringe

I hope it is better in real life than it sounds on this video. It just sounds plain annoying to me. Like someone using a drill in the upstairs apartment. I can't see my wife giving it the tick of approval when she's watching TV in the next room.
