In this video I'll be testing out the Wen 6307 Variable Speed Detailing File Sander in an effort to shave the Datsun 280z engine bay!
Today you'll join me in the garage as I begin an engine bay shave on the Datsun 280z. First we go over the essential tool you'll need, the Wen Variable Speed Detailing File. After that we'll go over why you need to upgrade the accessories of your tools, in this case it's the belts that come with the Wen Detailing Sander. The Wen Sander seems like a great unit, but it can be made even better with the proper 3M Cubitron II file Belts.
The 3M Cubitron II File Belt, 33445 belts seem to have a much better construction than the belts that come standard with the Wen Variable Speed Detailing File. I noticed that the Belts that came with the file had missing gaps of grit, and the seams seemed pretty weak.
Aside from that one tip, this Variable Speed Sanding File seems to work really well for removing the spot welds in the engine bay of my Datsun 280z. A word of caution that it can be pretty easy to burn right through your metal so take your time and slowly but surely wear away the spot welds that hold on the brackets.
In conclusion I'd highly reccomend this Wen Variable Speed Detailing File to any enthusiast looking to do some detail sanding work on their car project, or any metal project for that matter.
