I have a question about tracking calls to numbers on my website. Example: I run a home improvement company. 1. Adam Googles "home improvement services" on their laptop, 2. He clicks my ad, 3. He arrives on my landing page and likes what he sees. 4. Adam sees the number displayed on the website, and types it into his phone. 5. Because Adam is short on time, he saves the number as a new contact to come back to later 6. 3 days later, Adam calls the number and is put through. 7. An appointment is made

When testing ads do you create a whole new responsive search ad or do you just edit the existing responsive search ads? Ex. We are a lawn care Company and one campaign is for lawn mowing. Inside the campaign I used to run multiple ads and change out the under performers and create new ones to build better ads. How do you do this now with responsive ads now that expanded text ads are gone?

Good question - it really depends on what we are changing. If we want to test a whole new focus for the ad (really highlighting one benefit over others for example) then we will create whole new ads. If we're just adjusting the wording in a headline or testing something similar then we will edit existing.

When is enough data to know if you should pause a campaign?

That's always a tricky thing to work out. I would put it in relation to your target CPA. If you are close to it, then a longer time period is needed to make that call. If you are far away then it's easy to turn something off. There are no hard and fast rules here I'm afraid.

I think it's far too early to tell. People were telling me Facebook was going away 5 years ago as an ad platform and it clearly hasn't happened. It's highly likely for example that Google will develop it's own AI search option. Google ads isn't going anywhere for at least the next few years and I think the most likely option is that is it here to stay for the next decade+
