Regarding the branding-naming issue, in Danish the word for butterfly is _sommerfugl_ (the g is silent), which means 'bird of summer' - that's very pretty and cute and etc. The word for moth is _natsværmer_ which means 'night-swarmer'. That doesn't sound like an adorable, beautiful and fluffy little cuties that moths actually are. It sounds like some terrifying mythological monster that swarms at night and steals babies or eats corpses or something

I love hummingbird moths, the first time I saw one I was blown away, I did not know how I went that long without hearing these things exist. If you’ve never seen or heard of one, look it up they’re amazing. And yes Moths are amazing creatures, more beautiful than butterflies a lot of the time

if i'm not a butterfly, does that mean I'm a moth?

Eventually you just got to own up to the phylogeny and admit that butterflies are just a colorful group of moths, but for now let us imagine how we felt seeing moths and butterflies as children. Nostalgia complete. Butterflies are just Tron moths and always were.

Ultra Mega to my ear the English words “moth” and “death” aren’t that far apart. None of this is very surprising because all three languages are descendants of the Proto-Indo-European language 😀

I just encountered one of these little guys. I was scared at first but curiosity outweighed my fear 😂 I took this little guy off my shirt and gave him a new home and we hung out for a while. Didn't know anything until this came across my recommendations ♥️♥️

Moth or caterpillar? I saw one as a caterpillar in plymouth meeting a few years ago, but haven't seen any since 🐛

My favorite moth is the Hummingbird Moth, we get them here feeding on the flowers with Hummingbirds but they are nearly silent and the hummers here are Broadtails, the males make a distinct sound from their wings as they fly.

are euphemisms metaphors, or is that too hard to swallow? I was thinking long and hard about that joke but it just wasn't funny. Sorry, its my first time.
