The car looks awesome now. And yes a fuel pump is so easy to do on an e46 it’s almost something you should do every two or three years as preventative maintenance. I have changed a fair amount of these in parking lots. In fact I got an e46 for 400 dollars because the guy was told by some shop that it needed an ews. I looked over the car and came back with a pump and cash, replaced the pump in his driveway and drove the car home.

Yo evan , great video , great that you found out the problem . Nasty little rat there ! I'm gonna have something for it to chew on in case it tried to pay my E46 a visit 😏 Can you include a video on how to fix the rear electrical sun shade ? Mine is stock from the company , when I press the button , it goes down but the shade itself doesn't roll inside , it rather piles up , so I'm wondering if you can make a video since it's a really tight spot and I don't know how to disassemble the rear area around the speakers and the shade . Thanks bro 🍻

THIS EXACT THING happened to my e46 oil pump. It failed and caused the whole engine to get damaged. Going through a full rebuild now.

what about the reserve pump on the right? Is that not a common failure point as well? Just wondering as I'm about to change mine shortly. Nice video!

It's not a common failure point as it isn't an actual pump at all. It only compares the fuel level between the two halves of the tank with the fuel pump level sensor to give an exact amount of fuel in the entire tank. There's a line which supplies fuel to the passenger side but no secondary pump👍🏻

Car cranking is the best sign for non EWS related problem as the immobilizer wouldn't let you starter engage. BTW I have already changed 2 pumps during 90 000 KM. Bad luck I guess, I've used Bosch pumps and never drive with low tank

I’ve changed mine for the siemens/vdo one that was on my car from factory and 2 years later no problems

Think mine has completley died all of a sudden. Car cranks but doesn't start and I can no longer hear the pump priming when I turn the key. Looking to replace the pump and the filter while im at it.
