There is one combination that you did not talk about that has been money for me over the years. I call it a thumper. A 3/4 or 1 ounce with a single giant #8 Colorado blade. It thumps when you retrieve it. Your rod tip will look and feel like a wide wobbling crankbait. I slow roll these over weed beds and drop offs in open water and fish crush it. I learned about it from a buddy of mine on Guntersville a few years ago. It works everywhere I have tried it. It is also a great combo to throw in muddy or stained water. The only disadvantage to it is that it vibrates so much that they don't last long and it seems to cause the wire to fatigue over time. I like to use it on a lighter wire bait as it just seems to work and vibrate better. It is at the expense of the lifespan of the bait. However it is well worth it when they are crushing it. Love your videos keep up the good content. I watch them all.

Here in GA I can literally see the bass hanging out with the bluegills. I throw my fail safe bait which is the wacky worm finesse. I throw far in order to avoid scaring them and retrieve slowly but they don’t even stop to look at the worm. I use spinner baits with a silver spoon and they’re not attracted. I am thinking of trying live minnows and a red float. At least I still have fun seen them growing for summer.

Mike, I’m 45, and this year I went for another go at bass fishing. I had tried before but with moderate success I would lose interest. Last December when I got the fishing bug I started having more success because of the internet. I have learned a ton from several you tubers. I am having a blast catching fish. Now I live in south Florida, like south of lake O. Most of the videos I see are understandably catered to the whole country, eg 4 seasons. But here in sou flow as you well know we don’t have that. So what I really like about your videos is you always really thing to Florida fishing. Like whew you said in this vid that in Florida we use 50 pound braid when fishing the spinner bait. Keep that up please. I have leaned so much from you videos. Maybe do a video on the spawn in south Florida or the south Florida fishing season? Thanks again for sharing the knowledge and the stoke! Tight lines.

Pretty good video.....I’m from California and the Delta is my backyard. Another thing that has caught a lot of fish for me is using a very large single Colorado blade on a red or black spinnerbait and fishing down a tule bank and letting the Colorado blade helicopter down to the 4 to 8 foot depths and semi slack line. Short lining a spinnerbait. Oh yah......I’m SOOOOO glad you got Bog back in the videos. He’s just a super star. I’m that old guy (73) from Brentwood, California who wrote to you not long ago and you answered me. Thank you,,,,cause you’re kind of a superstar in my book. You’re a lot of fun to watch and you don’t get “bogged down” when you talk. You move quickly and I like that. Ken Lowy. Brentwood Ca.

I usually do not get snagged on a tree with spinner bait. But mostly on abandoned throw, or trotlines. Other than that, I was in the boat with one of my wife's friends no experience handed her a Zebco 33 with a shad colored spinner and just said just keep casting this and reel it in. She caught her first fish from a boat and using an artificial lure. After that she was through fishing for the day.

Enjoyed the video and the spinnerbait tackle tour. One I have had luck in the fall on when the shad are small and the bite is tough is the Rooster Tail version of a spinnerbait. It is light wire and gets torn up easily but it will get bit when bigger full skirt spinnerbaits won't.

For lots of bites, or small mouth, smaller blades, double willow leaf's, for giants, and I do mean giants, big number 6 and 7 willow leaf's, with 4 willow leaf or a smaller Colorado. Big 3/4 or even 1 ounce, I never use a half or 3/8 unless I'm fishing parallel in shad spawn or at night. Those big blades move a tremendous amount of water. Rick clunn taught me this trick and damn it works phenomenal. Another key with the heavier baits, especially in your dirtier water around lay downs, you let it knock into everything you can, and make as much noise as you can. Brings em to you from further away. I think it annoys them more then hunger strike. Those big blades are overlooked and a big tip to alot of people that don't use it. It don't work as good with your Colorado blades for me anyway. And you cant use those big blades on smaller weight, frame baits. Think dobyns, Stanley wedge type baits. Big
@Showmethefish4 жыл бұрын
How many big blades are you stacking on the arm...?
@treytrey82144 жыл бұрын
@@Showmethefish just 1 big willow leaf then smaller 4 or 5 willow or smaller colorado blade. You don't really need 2 or want to fish it all day. That would make it pull even harder. But 1 blade thumps big time.

I'll be honest. I live in eastern ky. I've caught many double digit bass my biggest being 14lbs. But all the giants I've caught was on live rainbow trout which technically is illegal. I fish a clear highlands reservoir. I've used big swimbaits and a rigs and never caught anything over 6lbs. What would be my best bet at catching those pre spawn giants legally. The problem is if I get the state record it won't count.

For inquiring minds that never thrown spinner baits much, or any, I use a heavy action Duckett sverado 7ft3 on 20 pound fluro. If I just fished wood I would drop down to 15, but I fish a lot of rip rap and natural rock and boulders and if you don't retie often on lighter line you'll get yore heart broke, trust me I know. I lost a 6 plus pounder one day right at the boat, line broke, and I said never again. Fishing a spinner bait for me is normally in stained enough water they don't care about the line. Smallmouth spinner bait fishing is different though. I use 15 pound fluro, but I use small blades and heavy heads and burn the shit out of em. Drives em nuts.
